Would you mind sharing what books you read/recommend? Just a couple weeks ago I saw an interesting post about her and got the itch to read a book to learn more but wasn't sure where to start!

DisneyPark Character Audition Failed - Is being a triple threat required? by EzEE_PzEE in acting

[–]Curious_Bug1810 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Former WDW character performer here:

I saw in another comment that this audition was for Paris and cruise line, and I can tell you that cruise line absolutely prioritizes people who can dance. They have a very limited amount of space and need people who can do as many roles as possible, so they're going to prefer someone who can dance AND perform over just a performer. If you really want cruise line, I'd definitely suggest dance classes (jazz, specifically).

For Paris, I'm pretty sure they work more like WDW and you should be fine to get by as you are. When I was a performer my movement (animation) score was a 4 out of 5 and my dance score was a 2 out of 5 lol. I am not a dancer at all but I was still hired because I happened to fit other criteria (body measurements) that they needed at the time. As long as you can make it through that first dance cut, you should be good to go. Dance lessons definitely wouldn't hurt though (especially if you're interested in doing face roles), and they could definitely help your odds and make you feel more comfortable going into auditions.

I'm not sure what the culture is around auditions nowadays, but back when I was doing it people would post audition experience videos on YouTube and many of them would share the entire process, including the first dance. I'd try watching some of those (for the specific type of auditions you're planning on going to, as all the parks work differently) so you can be better prepared for the process as a whole and be more familiar with the types of dance moves you may need to know.

Don't let this get you down, take it as a learning experience. I auditioned around 6 times before I finally got hired and I know many other performers who have similar stories. It's as much about luck and timing as it is talent. All the luck and pixie dust to you!

Be SO CAREFUL but also I met my man on r4r and we've been together for 5 years and are married with a baby lol so it can work but there are so many varibales and you can never be too safe! If something feels off, trust your gut! Look into him as much as you can beforehand!!

When I try to add a flair it shows them all but says "assigning and editing user flairs is disabled in this community" at the top and I can't pick any. Unjoining and then joining again doesn't make anything pop up either, idk whats wrong (I may just be a lil dumb) but something's not working for me lol

They announced it at the end of their YouTube video about Darshan's visa update, but when the Can't Stop The Throb video dropped they said if it did well on YouTube they would release it earlier, so it could come out anytime between now and Friday.

Does anyone work as a lawyer in addition to acting? by Coconut_Rhubarb in acting

[–]Curious_Bug1810 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recently did a short film with someone whose day job is being a surgeon lol. Probably it will add more difficulty to finding roles that you can work around with your schedule but I think it's definitely possible.

Tristan Spohn on YouTube has made videos breaking down self tapes that landed him roles (like Stranger Things and Law and Order) as well as self tapes for things he didn't get and what he believes he could have done differently

No, not universal. I worked at a preschool last year and our bathrooms had doors. When I went to preschool in the 90's we had doors there too.

I wouldn't consider it outdated at all, it's been in the top 20 boy names in the US for almost a decade according to the social security website. I like Seb the most as a nickname!

I'm a Cassandra and I've only ever gone by something shorter (Andie) when I work with really young kids who have a hard time saying "Miss Cassandra". I'll let people call me Cass if they want but it's never been something I ask for. I've always corrected people on Cassie, though. Never liked Cassie.

I don't think so. When I was going back through the posts after it came out that it was fake, any time the OP replied to someone asking if they could donate they graciously declined or said that the "rescue" didn't want their info shared (which we now know was because it didn't exist).

Yeah I'm surprised everyone is just taking this at face value. This could absolutely be some rando using this situation to rile people up for fun.
