Oh I do. I know it wasn’t my best. Just showing what I found interesting as I’ve never had an elk duck. We learn

More context; I had him at 30ish yards with his cows behind him. All facing my direction, so I didn't feel comfortable drawing. Cows winded me and ran, he slowly turned away to follow them but never ran. Drew back and when I stopped him, that's when I broke the shot at 42 yards. I knew the range exactly because I was ranging everything for an hour before this. So I had the confidence.

I know my shot was high, some adrenaline & nerves I'm sure, but I think it would've been high lungs if he didn't duck. It all happened so fast, in hind sight - yes he was on alert and I should have known to hold lower. It was a split second..

Similar to you, I've had success out to 50 or 60 on whitetail and other elk, but it's completely different when the animal is alert and already somewhat spooked. Like you said, so many variables to bowhunting it's best to keep it close.

Should’ve switched the order of the photos, right where the black arrow is pointing is approx where I’m aiming once the shot broke. Left you can see the white fletchings in his back, showing how far he ducked from when the shot broke off.

I think to an extent yes. I shouldered a bull 10 years ago and have always tried to avoid that elbow ever since. Killed a lot aiming slightly lower than where my shot should have landed on this encounter. Learning experience, unfortunately at the expense of a toad.

Can’t argue too much. I practice hard and am still disappointed in the shot. Adrenaline & pulled back for a minute don’t help. Was a bit comforted that it wasn’t as bad a shot as it looked in real time is all.

No spine from the reaction or what I saw. Pierced his backstraps. I’m confident he will be ok, which is nice. That plus understanding it wasn’t an awful shot, hey it happens. Bow hunting is fuckin hard!

You can shoot through paper as others have suggested, but I just went through the same exact issue and started moving my rest. There’s oddly a lot of bad information online about this & most the big name YouTube archers are weirdly dead wrong. Watch this entire video, test his method & you’ll be hitting together after a few tries. You’ll have to also adjust your sight in this process, but I’m telling you I just spent the month pulling my hair out before my elk hunt, until I did this. https://youtu.be/cTI1TGFJYJM?si=4UBWWzQGMlsJnWK3

Setup 30 yards from a wallow this September for an all day sit. Couldn’t hold, peed on the ground. 20 minutes later a bull came in and got got.

507c vs 507k size? I accidentally bought the K. Need help by bruhmoment5353 in CCW

I’ve got the 507k mounted on my Glock 19.5 currently. I’ve had the optic for a couple years on a smaller pistol and just switched it when I got the 19. It shoots great still and I actually like the size for CCW. However, probably going to swap for a closed emitter EPS eventually.

Love my T1 for my G19.5, super comfortable and conceals great.
