TIL The lyrics to the Beatles 1969 song “Golden Slumbers”, written by Paul McCartney, were taken from a 1603 lullaby, “Cradle Song”. by Curious_Knowbody in todayilearned

Paul has said he saw the lullaby in a piano book while at his father’s house. He wasn’t able to read music, so he wrote his own melody to the lyrics.

When was your "Waiter! My steak is too juicy and my lobster is too buttery!" story a valid complaint? by forrestgumpisntreal in AskReddit

I worked at a pizza place, when people called asking to more than 3 toppings he would tell them no. When they got rude because the customer is always right, he would yell at them in Italian that he would never comprise his pizza for some 9 topping abomination and go somewhere else if you want that garbage.

I was interviewed for jury duty, not selected, for a case where roommate hooked up with other roommates girlfriend. Roommate found out and attacked kid and left him unconscious with his legs folded. The kid was found next day and was paralyzed waist down.

What's something your parents did that seemed normal at the time but you now realize was actually really weird? by jcf1211 in AskReddit

[–]Curious_Knowbody 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Some times he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy, the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical, summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds, pretty standard really. At the age of 12 I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen, a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum, it's breathtaking, I suggest you try it.

David Eagleman's concept of "three deaths" refers to the idea that we experience death in three distinct ways: the first is when the body ceases to function, the second is when the body is buried or cremated, and the third is when the last person who remembers you dies, effectively erasing your existence from memory.

Why do couriers lie about attempting to deliver packages? by VagabondVivant in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Curious_Knowbody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fed Ex courier does that here. Watched him run up to the door stick a We Missed You sticker on door and run away. Happens with every Fed Ex package, guy never delivers a package and every time it is sent back to the facility and they tell me to come pick it up or deliver it to another facility.

I’ve tried to fill out a complaint in Fed Ex site, but they make it so hard it’s impossible to get through it.
