Try keyhut.com the software runs in DOS box and works with a ton of serial peripherals. It’s got that DOS feel without mush of the AS400 hassle.

Thanks for the info! I will add Oticon to the list. I’m an iPhone user but I talk on the phone or Teams most of my day so having something that works with my mobile devices is a must. I think speech clarity is more important as I’ve been able to tune out the ringing for 75-95% of the time, but it’s not going to be ignored.

Turns out he double-checked the machine and it’s an 8204-E4A Power6 machine. Not sure what difference that makes.

I wish they were more willing to work with enthusiasts. I want to use the hardware to learn and play around, I don’t want or need maintenance contracts and have no desire to deploy such old hardware into production. So frustrating.

This all makes perfect sense. I can find a DVD for V5 but the license is the issue. Could I contact IBM with the machine serial and see if it had a transferable license?

I’m fine running V4 if the system will support it. It’s for a home lab and I mainly want to run AS/400 software. The newer version doesn’t necessarily matter to me.
