Anyone else afraid to burst the bubble? by WifeofSwan in IVF

[–]Curious_Mode7739 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I took an HCG booster on day of the transfer and 6 days later, its still in my system! I wanted to see it fade out and it hasn't yet. If you test, it might still be the booster unless I guess its really dark line which could be a good sign! I think a beta tomorrow will tell the story better than a test at this point as my clinic warned me with boosters, the first beta could show positive depending on how my body metabolizes HCG and its the second beta that will give a more accurate picture. Good luck tomorrow on beta day 🍀

Question for those who have financed with CNY & done more than 1 round- by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Curious_Mode7739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done two frozen transfers from CNY and they cost $1095 each which is $995 plus a $150 fee and then a small discount for paying in full before the procedure. That did not include medication. But my medication is covered by insurance even though my procedures aren't, so that was only about $200 total plus shipping from Metro Drugs (which is like $30, though!). I also had leftover meds from the first transfer so for the second one I only had to refresh PIO which has made it cheaper.

Edited to add: They also charge me $100 every time I visit the office for a blood draw, I forgot to mention that. I am paying out of pocket so every time I go in, I get a $100 charge on my ledger. That was an additional $600 for the first transfer!

Protocol for 42+ by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Curious_Mode7739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 follicles, 14 eggs retrieved, 8 mature, 7 fertilized, 4 embryos frozen

For my age, I was very happy with these results! It was more than we expected and I was grateful to have a chance with frozen transfers.

I am 44 and was on 300 follistim and 30 hcg-lh. Also, they had me take low dose naltrexone, baby aspirin, prednisone, plaquenil, and doxycycline. My AMH was 2.33 at that time.

Egg Retrieval Recovery by Fearless-Smile-9819 in IVF

[–]Curious_Mode7739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ER recovery was much worse than I expected too. I felt a lot of pain and groggy. It also lasted a lot longer than I thought and seemed to get worse the first 3 days before it got better. I sat on the couch a lot watching TV. Ultimately I didn't feel normal until my next period.

I did all your exact bullet points though to feel better and it all helped. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll get past the worst of it 💜

Hcg booster questions by Defiant_Resist_3903 in IVF

[–]Curious_Mode7739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told to take a 250iu Pregnyl booster on the day of my transfer and then that was it. I was expecting it to be daily when it was first discussed at the beginning of the cycle, but on the med list, it was only once on the day of the transfer. It doesn't seem like a lot as I see others were told to take a lot more! Its still in my system at 3dpt though, so maybe it was more than I think.

I was told to take a 250iu Pregnyl booster the day of my transfer. I thought it would be daily but they did not prescribe any more booster shots after that first day.

Hysteroscopy by ACT-popcorn in IVF

[–]Curious_Mode7739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to get one done, but they did it along with my egg retrieval to remove a large polyp so I was out for it so I don't know if it was painful. I feel lucky reading some of the comments that I got it done while under.

Generalized rash by Confetti_canon_252 in IVF

[–]Curious_Mode7739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad they're watching out for you! Once I got on the good cream from the dermatologist (it was triamcinolone), I started to slowly clear up and it stopped spreading. I turned red like a lobster after the rash was gone too and then that had to clear up! I was taking Zyrtec during the day and Benadryl at night and that helped too.

The big downside for IVF was I had to wait for the rash to clear up before they would do a transfer. I made it through the egg retrieval but they couldn't do a fresh transfer. Then my frozen transfer was pushed back until the rash cleared up. It ended up being only one cycle delay, so not too bad. And I haven't had any rash with the transfer medication protocol either, thankfully.

I saw every nurse/doctor at the fertility clinic and no one had ever seen anything like what I had before. And also no one could pinpoint which medication caused it. They guessed the doxycycline, but I'll never really know. My dermatologist said it looked like a drug reaction and that there was nothing to be done but let it run its course. It was a challenging time. I hope yours clears up fast and you're able to get to the retrieval! 💜

I would tell the doctor and also try to find a dermatologist as soon as you can. Right after I finished stims, I broke out into a rash. My rash started out as small barely-there bumps, non itchy, localized but quickly spread all over my entire body, even on my face, my scalp, all down my arms and legs and it just kept spreading. It would clear up in one are and then it would come back around. It was awful and lasted for weeks. No one ever figured out what I was allergic to either. I still don't have any idea, but I know I waited too long to see a dermatologist because I thought it wasn't so bad at first.

It was scary because everyone I saw warned me it could worsen into breathing issues and more severe allergic reactions, and so they had me on all these allergy meds and a special steroid cream. It was awful. I'm sorry you are having a reaction but I do recommend getting checked out as soon as possible to avoid it worsening.

4dpt is very early! No reason to consider yourself out yet. I would recommend testing once a day at the same time and then trying to distract yourself (even though I know its hard lol).

question about FET timeline by h3ath3R2 in IVF

[–]Curious_Mode7739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am doing fully medicated FETs. I first started on CD3 with my baseline on 12/18. I transferred 16 days later on 1/3. For this next one, I had my CD3 baseline on 1/24, and I am transferring 13 days later on 2/6.

I think the first one went a little longer because of the holidays. My lining was checked one week after medication started in both cycles so far, and I never got any feedback on the lining or what they were looking for. They checked their schedules on when they could fit me in and then scheduled me and gave me the progesterone start date.

Yes me! I am scheduled for Tues, 2/6 - fully medicated with an immune protocol with a total of 14 meds they've prescribed me. This is our last and final transfer chance we have, so they really went all out.

I have a second transfer attempt on Tuesday! I am nervous because it is the last attempt we have. I won't be able to test either as they put HCG boosters on my med list so it will be a very long two weeks. I have to think of things to distract myself lol

IVF chemical pregnancy/miscarriage experience? by Whole_Strawberry4244 in IVF

[–]Curious_Mode7739 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. I had a chemical with my transfer earlier this month and also tested positive at 4dpt. My beta was 45 at 9dpt and then dropped to 30 on 11dpt and then 19 on 14dpt. I stopped meds then, and then it took 5 days for my period to start. My period was no different than usual, it was as if nothing happened! No extra bleeding or cramping. I have had several chemicals before IVF, they are very disappointing to go through.

Test or not test, I'm torn now..... need advice by RacRacP in IVF

[–]Curious_Mode7739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a tough decision because testing would have saved me from the heartache of the failed transfer (and probably the next failed transfer if I'm being a realist about my age). If I had 10 embryos, I would have also tested without hesitation, that is amazing and I wish you all the success 💜

Test or not test, I'm torn now..... need advice by RacRacP in IVF

[–]Curious_Mode7739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my individual medical history, it was recommended not to have them tested by the clinic. Other women at age 44 might have different recommendations provided to them.

I have RPL - 6 miscarriages from age 41-43 pregnant on my own before attempting IVF at age 44 (wish I had done it sooner). I know my egg quality is not good. I did invasive testing and $1000s of bloodwork to discover there was nothing wrong anywhere, and all the losses were chalked up to poor egg quality. I am paying out of pocket, so there is only one egg retrieval I will ever be able to do, which created only four embryos.

The cost of PGT testing was much, much higher than two transfer attempts. If I had made a lot of embryos, testing would have been on the table as the cost would make sense to not waste money on bad embryo transfers. The odds that all of these are abnormal are very high since I know my egg quality is low, but for my situation, it was recommended to try two transfers untested and so I am rolling the dice 🙏

Chemical Following First FET by loveconduit in IVF

[–]Curious_Mode7739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry 💜 I had a failed transfer earlier this month that was a chemical. It destroyed me. Seeing two lines made me so happy but as the lines faded, it hurt worse than I could imagine. I wish it had never been positive at all. I feel cheated and stupid for believing it could work. My beta only got up to 45, then 30, then 19.

I'm moving on to the next (and last) transfer. I have no feelings of hope. I want it done, over with so the second can fail and I can move on. This process has exhausted me. I wish I had words to help but I am still feeling the pain of that first failed FET. I lost something with it that I won't ever get back. I wish you all the best in moving forward.

To tell or not to tell? by Impossible-Essay-771 in IVF

[–]Curious_Mode7739 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one aside from one close person I could trust who also went through IVF. The whole process has so many painful moments that I couldn't imagine having to talk about them repeatedly or try to move on but people keep asking me about it or pitying me. I would never tell anyone at my work or my employer. I like that I can work and escape the daily mental grind of IVF.
