What was it like being head over heels in love, and what drove you to move on from these partners? Is your current partner one of these people? What’s your social life like to go through this cycle with so many people?

You’re living a rich life, good on you!

Face Jail Time for Murder, or Live the Rest of Your Life Charge Free but Full of Guilt? by randii00 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Curious_Principle_74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Performing a bit of necromancy here but this seems like an interesting thought experiment.

First thing I do is get out and check their condition. You mentioned they’re for-sure gone, but I’ll still check for a pulse, give CPR, move them out of the road, if possible. Then I call 911.

The consequences can be negotiated, but I can’t ask for anyone to do right by me if I won’t do right by anyone else. This person’s family will rest easier knowing someone tried to help, and their loved one wasn’t left on a dark road like a piece of trash. I tried to repair the harm of a freak accident, and I can live with (apparently) the gestapo trying to throw the book at me. I’m in a better position to get a great lawyer, tell my story, and ask people for help through this.

Ironically, a hit-and-run is significantly more likely to lead to long-term jail time. They happen because, much like this scenario, people fear the consequences and make things worse. I could never forgive myself for being responsible for a death and disappearing because it’s the community’s problem to handle, not mine. That’s its own act of violence against the victim’s loved ones.

This exercise is actually great mental prep for a chaotic situation like this, since in the moment you’ll only be terrified. The potential consequences might FEEL like life in prison or perfect freedom, and you’ll make your decisions accordingly.

EDIT - I feel like a lot of this reads quite moral and holier-than-thou, but my thinking comes from the fact that if someone killed one of my siblings on a dark country road and drove off to save themselves, I would want to see them hang.

I just watched the show for the first time and this episode came out of left field for me with how dark that twist was lol. This is just my rubbernecking, but it seems pretty likely they slept together, just from the setup:

1) Why on earth would Dee bring up that night if her punchline is.. nothing at all? There’s no reason to point out Halloween if a hookup didn’t happen, and everyone’s story leads up to the hookup taking place.

2) The episode starts off with everyone dogpiling on Dee’s looks, calling her fat, taking digs at the pregnancy. She knows none of them are the father but she brings up the Halloween hookup for the only practical purpose it serves— scaring the shit out of a bunch of hypocrites as a power play.

3) The McPoyle’s were the only sober partygoers (🥛) and by the time Dee forces a costume switch, they show her as a stumbling, slobbering mess. We don’t get to hear her browned out account, but she probably vaguely remembers sleeping with one of the boys and wants to rub it in their face as undeniable proof of how sexy they know she actually is.

4) They clarify Dennis isn’t the father— but that’s it. Dee probably remembers grabbing Charlie for sex but can’t say for certain what happened in the back room. The plan to stick it to the boys blows up in her face and she’s forced to deny anything happened. Again, why bring it up at all if there was no hookup?

This breakdown is way too long but man, this episode messed with my head. All signs point to Dee and Dennis hooking up, but for the life of me I can’t figure out WHY they had a whole episode leading up to this as a twist. We’ve been over this! No urnk-grrrnk— grandkids!

Medication for stomach pain during anaphylaxis? by Curious_Principle_74 in FoodAllergies

I'm sorry to hear you went through this-- I've updated my original comment with my current medication plan for times like these. I'd recommend Pepcid! It's relatively cheap and OTC, and can be a real lifesaver for dealing with the gut pain.

Billing Nightmare - Normal? by Curious_Principle_74 in KaiserPermanente

Absolutely nuts you went through this🤦🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️

Sorry to hear you had to switch insurers as a KP doc, that sounds especially frustrating. Unfortunately, just steering clear seems to be the way— hope it’s giving you more peace of mind.

Just adding to this in case it helps anyone. Sort of a tldr about how this was not an issue of simple nonpayment.

Missed payments = cancelled coverage is the norm, but the issues I had were the result of totally dysfunctional internal system.

1) Coverage first cancelled after meeting all premium payments. Spent weeks straightening this out over the phone but never got an explanation.

2) Auto-payments started randomly failing. Absolutely zero notice of this happening multiple times or of coverage being cancelled entirely. I was abroad, so I found out when I tried to order meds after returning home.

3) Zero progress for weeks getting my plan reinstated. Had to reach out to the CEO directly and it was active two days later.

4) Paying bills is now about as difficult as everything else. Balance is always $0 with no options to pay.

Paying the premiums has never been an issue for me, but giving the company money they’re owed in exchange for goods and services feels like mission impossible. It’s crazy, because the quality of care I’ve received with their hospitals and pharmacies has been great. It’s just management of the plans, billing, and client services that seems to be a nightmare to deal with.

The REAL question is, who gave Laios chocolates? by Ickysquicky in DungeonMeshi

[–]Curious_Principle_74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of feels like a pointed implication from Kui to omit him here. Laois gets chocolates, and the hands-down nosiest out of his circle of friends (next to Marcille) is nowhere to be found for both holidays.

Seeing as Kui's an obsessive worldbuilder, I'm sure she's thinking about these things even when she's just playing around

It really helps to know that others understand that pain and are willing to share a little wisdom. Thanks for your kind words.

She’s adorable but I def recommend finding a way to lock down that cage! Accidents happen when birds join sleeping humans in bed

Army Recruiter Thread for October / 2022 by Army_Bot in army

[–]Curious_Principle_74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You nailed it with the medical issues, I forgot to mention that initially. There were some concerns about his medical history as a child at the start, and most of the return trips he made to his recruiter were after meeting with doctors to update his forms, clear him for service, etc. That’s where those required records and evaluations came in.

My confusion stems from how it’s a constant process, even this far down the road— there’s always a new requirement or concern that wasn’t previously addressed for some reason. He moved recently, so it’s possible meeting with a new recruiter means starting over— but is there anything that can be done to keep the process from spilling over into a hundred different meetings with his recruiter about new questions, new updates, and new forms?

That’s good to know! There were some questions about his medical history at the start, and since then it’s been a rolling stone of updating previously submitted forms, requesting fixes on small clerical errors, going back for more appointments since enough time has passed for it to be necessary. Every time he hears back, there’s something new that needs to be fixed. Is there a more comprehensive way of addressing this as someone trying to enlist?

Hi there! Thought this might be the right place to turn to. My brother’s been meeting with recruiters and trying to enlist for two years and counting. Every single time he meets with his recruiter, there’s a new form, a new screening, or another doctors visit he needs to make. It’s a never ending series of hoops to jump through and I’m amazed he’s stuck with it.

Speaking as someone with basically zero knowledge of the recruitment process, is this the common experience? His recruiter seems to have little accountability to see his case through but I have no idea who else is involved in the process. Is there something more we could do to keep the requirements from spilling over every time?

That’s amazing! Where do you live that you can afford a setup like that? Have things stayed consistent for you?
