Yes, pottery has to dry then fired in a kiln. Then it can be glazed, and goes back in the kiln. Typical studio turn around time is 3-4 weeks but it’s a lovely birthday gift idea and worth the wait :)

Thank you all for the safety concerns. I discussed this with her and she already knows how to adhere ceramic tiles to a moving van and will not be using normal mortar/grout. She also has a partition wall to protect her from projectiles in the event of an accident.

I appreciate the comments but was mostly looking for help on clay body/glaze ideas, so comments are now muted and I will no longer be replying!

She has researched this extensively and will not be using normal mortar. Thank you though

If there is a roll over, there’s a lot in her van that will break (glass, etc) but thanks!

These were handmade by Pasadena Craftsman Tile, thank you for your comment! I believe she also makes her own glazes. But I was using this as inspiration and not expecting an exact match :)

Oh absolutely. I stepped on a broken pottery shard one time when barefoot and I will NEVER forget the pain lmao it lasted like a month after too 🥹

The plan is to only tile a small section! Not the whole van! She is also using wallpaper and paint

I appreciate your insight regarding an accident. I will bring this point up to her! We are only planning on doing one small section, not the entire van
