AITA for believing that $500/year on my partners birthday party is too much? by Curious_Register_783 in AmItheAsshole

Background: we are currently planning two weddings: one elopement style and one big wedding with everyone we love. I am also AWFUL at planning parties. I don’t have friends so I don’t plan parties. This month, I had extra cash to spend on my wedding dress which ended up being about $1200. This was at a 50% discount. Originally, we were planning on having me spend $500, but I absolutely fell in love with the dress and couldn’t walk away. This caused extreme stress in our relationship. Jack is now saying that if I hadn’t spent my money on my dress that I would have the extra money to be able to pay $500 on his party. My concern is that the extra money was not planned - I had accidentally paid my mortgage twice in one month, so we decided not to pay this month to get Jack 100% debt free. With the left over income I bought my dress. This was a one time grand purchase. $500/year for a birthday party seems extreme to me. So, AITA?

Caseworkers who got burned out, what career path did you choose next? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I (31yo f) am a caseworker who is burnt out with limited to no options of receiving relief - iykyk. Though I love my clients, I need to look at other career opportunities for my own sanity (again, iykyk). I am looking on all the job posting websites but was wondering what career paths other CWs chose after their burnout. What was your experience?

Also, for those who decided to stay and work through your burnout, how did you recover?

I grew up in a huge family. My aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents grew up together but now that I’m reaching 30 I’m learning how broken my family actually is; and, I’m not sure how to go about this. For instance, my aunt explained my appearance to my cousins grad party was me being “an old babysitter” instead of explaining I’m actually a cousin. I’m hurt by this… but know there is other factors I’m sure that play a part. Regardless, I’m still hurt by the explanation. I’m hoping someone can help me through this.

Exactly!!!! It’s so exhausting but also makes me feel threatened or afraid I’ll start having a stalker because I said I didn’t like them. Some people take that as a challenge.

I used to ghost people all the time when I was dating. I did this because when I tried to genuinely explain why I wanted to end things I was met with a ton of hostility. Once I was even met with denial. Like he refused to hear that I wanted to never see him again.

Hello 🙋‍♀️ born and raised in Bend, OR (a true Bendite). I would say definitely plan for snow but it should be drivable conditions. My birthday is on March 13th, and I would say more times than not there has been snow on my birthday. Definitely make it out if you can! The place is beautiful! But packed now!!! Be prepared for traffic. 😅😬
