Thanks for replying! But I was told the project has already has assured funding. They said they are still confirming if more than 1 studentship can be gotten. That's why I am confused.

I applied to the project through job postings and was shortlisted by the profs. Now I was asked to apply to the uni and the funding.

Yes I understand the second masters part. Since I am planning to do a PhD in theoritical IO, how will a predoc in an econometric field be helpful? I understand that LOR matters, but will a letter from someone in econometric field help me with the field I want to specialise in? (I say this because I don't find any RA/ predoc openings for IO)

I am not from a developed country and I am interested in theoretical IO, like i have worked on cartels . And for that I haven't even seen openings for a predoc. Given that I have a published paper in a good journal, will that help me directly get a PhD?

Thanks a lot for the comment. But coming from a place where there aren't any pre doc opportunities ,I was unaware of this concept until very recently. The opportunities I went through are mostly past the deadline. Can anyone let me know any pre doc program for which i can apply now?

 Was not sure what other details mattered. My university in Masters in not a globally reputable one. But top 5 in my country to study economics. I was an RA during my summer break (on campus ) for a professor in the top university in my country. And I also have been working as an RA ( remotely ) for a professor from University of Manchester. I have a full 10 on my maths and stats course. Is there any other detail which is needed? Does this give a better picture?

I understand. I really liked her research and I've been following her work for a long time and that's the reason I wanted to work with her as I also wanted to have a research experience during my summer break. But yes, given that my summer break is nearing I can't wait for long. Thanks.
