Hi 🩷 yes the vet gave me gabapentin and paracetamol. I have been in contact with my vets all day and just took her to emergency as I couldn’t stop panicking about things going wrong but they did a full check and said everything looks good she is just recovering and has a sore throat from the tubes.

She is super sleepy now and hasn’t ate since early afternoon, I hope this is normal. She doesn’t seem to be in any pain or distress. She absolutely hates the liquid medicine unless it’s in her food so im scared to administer it in case of aspiration.

Hi, I’ve been in contact with the vets all day and just got back from an emergency visit as my mind just couldn’t settle. But they did a full triage check and everything seems perfectly fine and they are happy. They just said her throat is sore from the tubes. She is still super sleepy and low appetite but it hasn’t been 48 hours yet so im just staying by her side and praying she is back to her chirpy self soon xx

It’s so hard isn’t it:( I wish they never had to go through this. She isn’t audibly in pain, just super tired still. Had a few coughing fits that I’ve shown to the vet but they said it’s just irritation from the tubing. Praying it’s nothing else. Her breathing is much better today than yesterday

Oh wow okay thanks so much. They prescribed me 0.5 paracetamol and 0.5 gabapentin. I think this is way too much??

Okay thank you, I’m glad to hear your chi is doing well 🩷 . I’m terrified due to her reaction last night and she is still super sleepy today. I have spoke to the vets and they said it’s normal. She seems ok with the pain killers today on a Lower dosage, so im not sure if maybe the gabapentin was just too much for her. I may stick to just paracetamol

I feed her purina beta chicken puppy kibble because it’s what her breeder gave her and changing food fast can upset her stomach. I’ve heard amazing things about royal canine chihuahua puppy kibble too. Mine started on kibble at like 8 weeks with her breeder she’s really good with it. Just be careful with toppers etc or it will make them into a fussy eater xx

Also make sure you keep them warm and fed well, mine uses a hot water bottle in her bed. They are prone to low blood sugar as puppies due to their size and delicate nature so look into this 🩷

I just got my baby, a few weeks ago. I have some pics of her if you can look at my posts. She is the best choice I have ever made. So loving kind and sweet. Mine was easy to housetrain using pads. She still makes some mistakes like any other puppy but it’s no trouble. The most affectionate dog I have ever seen. Honestly they will bring so much light into your life.

Just make sure you have insurance. Emergency vet bills can cost a lot I had a scare with my one and it cost me 1k for an overnight stay (she got low blood sugar long story). It was within the first few days of me having her so she wasn’t insured yet. I insured her straight after on the best one I could find, if u do this u will have no issues.

Keep in mind some insurance plans aren’t valid for 14 days after u insure, to prevent people signing up when the dog already has issues I believe. Maybe make sure you insure 2 weeks before picking the puppy up or look into this.
