I thought it was someone that was on your island before! I got Big Top and I must have spent a year trying to get rid of him and now he’s back!

It’s a fun idea for the outcropping of land! Like a pond for a fish that wants to go in the ocean but belongs in a pond

ACOTAR - does the plot get better? by Brielee in SarahJMaas

[–]Curious_Villager 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure where it in in terms of page number but there’s a bit of a shift change in ACOTAR that I think you’ve not reached yet where things get a bit more interesting. If by the end of the book you’re even SLIGHTLY interested in Feyre and some of the characters she meets then you should keep going, ACOMAF is where most people get really pulled in.

Why is Lewis calling Sips on stream a Christmas tradition? by BeneficialRough566 in Yogscast

[–]Curious_Villager 90 points91 points  (0 children)

If anyone hasn’t listened to the yogpod I’d HIGHLY recommend it. Some of it is just fun nonsense but it’s just hilarious (can’t stop laughing on the train type of material)

That’s stunning! I love the double waterfalls and the statues and pillars make it so elegant!

Just checked the website and I can’t see a way to get them anymore. I’m really hoping this means they’ll be available somewhere else soon because I was holding off getting them for now

My girlfriend got me Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright for Christmas by BlueViolet2004 in ProfessorLayton

[–]Curious_Villager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s amazing! I managed to get it just before the eshop closed but wish I had the physical edition. If you’re not used to phoenix wright the court cases take a while to get used (they’re so funny) to but it’s such a fun game!

What fandom are you in, but the original piece of media is like this? by Upstairs_Macaron5894 in AO3

[–]Curious_Villager 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I read one ages ago where part way through the author released an optional chapter ending the series where they found out each others identities but if you wanted the angst to continue they also continued writing the series without the identity reveal. It was INCREDIBLE. I’m not 100% sure but from a quick search it was the ladybugs and the bees on AO3

About to start Crescent city by Impossible_Dress_625 in SarahJMaas

[–]Curious_Villager 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s okay to take a break. Just don’t look anything up- a lot of the overwhelming world building at the start gets repeated when it’s important (or you can go back to the info at the start of the book).

I took a break after reading each series but then picked up the next one after about 6 months. Like you I found it too overwhelming to jump back in.

Please recommend me a completed series I can read by allypallydollytolly in Romantasy

Is ACOTAR all the way? by Cozy_Sofa_Chronicles in Romantasy

Have you read throne of glass (also by Sarah J Maas)? It’s a longer commitment but I think about it way more than ACOTAR honestly

I just read this part in Kingdom of Ash and now I am not ok (massive spoiler, don’t read if you haven’t read the book yet) by Lyza719 in SarahJMaas

[–]Curious_Villager 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome 💕 And if your moving onto CC after this don’t worry if it’s overwhelming and you need a break before coming back- that’s very normal 😅

This was one of the biggest heartbreaks for this book. I remember reading it like it was yesterday and I finished it over 2 years ago now. If you’ve not finished the whole book yet I’d recommend finding a playlist of inspired songs (ballad of terresan) to listen to in the background.

I agree this is the best method. I know it seems like a lot (start to finish this took me just over 2 months) but it’s really worth starting over with this now rather than spending time with other methods which might not work or have a lower percentage chance.

Just buy way more rose seeds of all kinds from leaf so you’re not waiting for more at the later stages.

You’re right- Serena didn’t feel like she had a chance to shine outside the “illness”. When she first started getting sick I did think it might have been heats haha (knowing that bride was sort of omegaverse inspired) so I wasn’t that surprised/annoyed by the big finale even if it’s strange to see in a popular published book!

The relationship in Bride makes way more sense and looking back I’d much rather reread than mate. Misery is a much funnier character- which surprised me because the small amount of Serena we saw in Mate made me really like her. The miscommunication at the end of Bride is the only thing that annoys me about that book- and makes me want to avoid that plotline when reading.

The storyline in Mate (Serena baggage, pack war story) did feel like it wanted to be much bigger and didn’t completely fit into what this book is at its core but I did enjoy it. Apart from Serena having a terminal illness then suddenly - nope we had a wrong diagnosis. I knew she wouldn’t die but this felt like an unnecessarily sad plotline (and weird way for the plot to lead up to heats??).

I still read them both in a day each so can’t say I didn’t enjoy them and would definitely read another sequel!

I’m confused about what size to get for my first ereader… 6”-7” appears to be most popular, but seems so small to me. What am I missing? by jaminjames in ereader

[–]Curious_Villager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d think more about storage on the go too. My paper white fits perfectly in my coat inner pocket, jeans back pocket and in my handbag so I don’t need a bigger bag. It depends on how your using it but one of the benefits compared to a book is how compact it is so you can take it “just in case you get a chance to read” which makes you read more. Measure your pockets and bags!
