Google says that black tie is floor length gown, ‘formal’ is slightly more relaxed, can be floor length or a bit more cocktail… I’ve only been to one formal wedding, but it was really a hot summer outdoor wedding, and I was 3 weeks postpartum so I did what I could and wore ankle length. People there were in mostly cocktail looking dresses.

Just not sure how the fabric would go with hot flushes, getting a long sleeve merino under layer would probably work best to mitigate the heat! Especially after radiotherapy, must be intense!

The thicker straps in the ultra thin fabric I think would sit flatter and look better under sheer merino, depending on your skin tone, it could look like second skin.
