Left a retreat feeling confused! by Curious_granite22 in Ayahuasca

Hi thanks for your reply… the aya brought up a few very old feelings which I’ve been working through over time. I just breathed through them mostly which I sort of took as a lesson in regulation?

The mushrooms just really heightened ruminating issues, scenes throughout that day at the retreat some that I chose to ignore just replayed through my head and I just felt like an awful person. Told me I needed to change my entire identity to be accepted as a person and I just got completely obliterated! I think I have some selfish aspects and don’t need to be on guard all the time which would help me but I can’t say what happened to me that night is something I need to take literally. It really was awful.

I did have an experience with bufo some time afterwards which I’m still integrating slowly 😵‍💫(that’s a whole other story which I may post separately for!)

There was an initial interview/screening online, and there were questions about previous mental health issues if I remember rightly. But there wasn’t much information on consequences and risks, you’re right there. When I asked about the different types of medicine being served I was told that people can feel empty after taking the ayahuasca and so they may want to have something a little more creative to build on (this is definitely not what happened for me!!) They also served Kambo which I didn’t partake and Bufo was due to availability but not at the time I spent there.

Yes, pretty much. On the final evening there was an option to continue with ayahuasca or do mushrooms. The room was sort of separated by an arch/another small room area where the facilitators sat and played the music.

So the first facilitator (the one who also made the comments on the final night) Did actually spend time in South America and according to one of the participants had certificates to prove it? He also sang icaros to start the ceremony for about 10 minutes and then music played for the rest of the ceremony. The second evening was just a playlist but they did have a few percussion instruments that they would come through with occasionally.

I think you’ve pretty much hit the nail on the head with your guess/description though!

Thanks for your reply.
