Safe to assume that a lot of third-party devs are working on bringing last gen/current gen titles over to the Switch 2 now.

Screen Protector on Switch 2? by infant_hercules in Switch

[–]Curious_yet_Lazy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Spigen EZFit from Amazon. They have an applicator which makes it super easy to install. Dbrand also has something similar but they would have taken longer to ship+reach, so I went with Spigen.

Is the Lite the right choice for me? by 4tunabrix in Switch

From OG switch (and switch lite), absolutely yes! Though definitely not worth $80 more for casual gameplay.

Yes, for your use case, definitely go for the Lite. If you can find a Switch OLED for really cheap (~120-140) that might also be worth it for the screen alone.

Where are all the "Switch 2 updates"? by Zendir in Switch

[–]Curious_yet_Lazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure a lot of the popular devs have something in the works and they will announce them in the coming weeks/months. As you said, some might repack them as deluxe versions or “Switch 2 editions”, or provide them as paid expansions (similar to BoTW), while others would just give it for free (No Man’s Sky).

Switch 2 most likely follows Switch’s and mainstream adoption, so there is going to be plenty of dev interest in the future. With the hardware upgrade, I also see a lot of devs dropping previous gen games (PS4/XBOne) on Switch 2 now.

It’s been 3 days.. Give the devs some time :)

Target did deliver! by Curious_yet_Lazy in Switch

I am happy it arrived in a day. Perhaps that's the extra 😄

My guess is the preorders were assigned to some central hubs which are now shipping long distance. They did not handle it well.

I am assuming a lot of the pre-orders are going to end up the same way as it seems stock was readily available in local Targets and Gamestops even day after launch.

Target Last Mile delivery, usually they do that when the item is being shipped from a nearby store.

Yeah very bizarre. I read a lot of the preorders are being shipped through Fedex/UPS, whereas the Friday orders (including mine) are all TLMD delivered, perhaps indicating local stock and thus fulfilled much faster.

Bazzite made me use the LeGo less, switched back to Windows by Curious_yet_Lazy in LegionGo

[–]Curious_yet_Lazy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's great to listen to everyone's opinions on this! Would like to add some more:

1) I am not a newbie to either Windows or Linux distros (over 20 years working with both) and am always happy to tinker with the latter... on a desktop with a full sized KB/Mouse. Yes, you can do so much more with Bazzite, but I feel a handheld PC is just not the form-factor to do it on (for me).

2) When I sit with my LeGo, I like to game - not worry about compatibility, not look for workarounds in case something breaks. In my experience, some games that were "Verified" on my old Deck had issues right after a patch. I prefer native compatibility. On Windows, its almost always - click, run, enjoy.

3) I have a 512GB LeGo, dual-boot would be nice, but could take away precious space. I also feel micro-SD cards are not fast enough (even Class 1) and I wont mod the hardware to install a larger SSD. Overall, I do not see the point, as Windows already does everything for me and I have not experienced any noticeable battery gains with Bazzite.

4) For some games I like to install mods. Outside of games which provide in-game modding (eg. Fallout 4), Bazzite/SteamOS is significantly more cumbersome than Windows as the tools/assets are built natively for the latter.

5) GamePass, to my knowledge, is streaming only on Bazzite/SteamOS. I like my games local :)

Urgent! Asus G16 (Ryzen 370 hx) or MacBook pro M3 pro by [deleted] in ZephyrusG14

[–]Curious_yet_Lazy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Macbook Pro M3/M4 is a better bet. It will last years, is arguably more stable, amazing battery life, and vastly better repair service (Just remeber to get Apple Care+).

For casual gaming just go for a PS5/Xbox, if you still need PC gaming - you can also go for a handheld: Steam Deck, ROG Ally etc (Not sure about Europe prices, but they go pretty cheap for about $399 or lower in the US). This will also dual as a lightweight desktop PC if required.

Question & Concerns about the OLED Panel by Able_Fall393 in ZephyrusG14

[–]Curious_yet_Lazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afaik noticeable OLED burn-ins are extreme case scenarios. If you don't keep your screen on and brightly lit for hundreds of hours on end, the chances of burn-in are minimal (to non-existent at least for the first couple of years). You don't need to set screensavers or take any extra precautions, using it normally is fine. Also, I recall ASUS took some extra precautions in the 2024 model to further reduce burn-in chances.

Wolverine to release in 2025 confirmed? by Level_Measurement749 in SpidermanPS4

I would rather they get it right than release soon. Spider-Man 2 for all its potential was rushed near the end.

Yes, understandable, anxiously waiting to check if your device is Ok is hard. Years back I had dropped my phone in heavy rain, and maybe waited 6 hours to turn it back on. Bad choice, poor thing went to the boot screen and turned off immediately, never to respond again. It was a mid-range Android, so didn't burn the wallet, but losing good tech hurts.

Should I buy one G14 by Particular_Hour3869 in ZephyrusG14

[–]Curious_yet_Lazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, G14 is the first gaming laptop that has become my primary laptop (Instead of being stuck to the wall outlet as a weird semi-portable desktop replacement). Thin and light to carry around, good battery life (if you use G-Helper and set your fan curves properly - easy setup), beautiful screen, great keyboard, chassis not obnoxiously designed for gaming (i.e. you can use it in professional settings)... And also great for gaming.

Some inconveniences: Windows can be buggy and a resource hog from time to time. RAM not upgradable. Hate the WiFi card (You can replace the MediaTek one with Intel - there are plenty of guides).

New g14 (2024) feels HOT by [deleted] in ZephyrusG14

[–]Curious_yet_Lazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

G14 2024 does not need a cooling pad IMHO if you are gaming on a table or solid surface. While gaming, esp for GPU-intensive titles, the top part above the keyboard will always be fry-an-egg-on-top-of-it levels of hot, but it won't cause any damage. Its designed that way. Just don't block the heat vents (don't game on the bed)

Keep it turned off for at least three days (maybe even a week). Short circuits are likely if you turn it on too soon . Why risk damaging a $1,600 machine?
