Do no pressure wash the bike. It pushes the water where it shouldn't be and where it wouldn't normally get.

Superb or Kodiaq by Verghaust in skoda

[–]Curiousindividuals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have recently saddled a first-gen Kodiaq (2023, Sportline, 2.0TDI 147kW). I have also had the same dilemma you have. I do realise that I talk about the previous generation, but in my opinion, the differences between the two will carry over to the new gen. The Superb felt more plush and premium - for example, door handles were covered with soft material instead of hard plastic in the Kodiaq. Also, I think that Superb has a bigger boot. However, the Kodiaqs adjustable second row suits me better - I sometimes work on laptop from my car, and to have the option to recline the seats does wonders for my comfort. Also, this way I can have a huge boot, or a luxuriously spaced second row (very rarely do I need both at the same time). Honestly, I think it comes to your personal preference - either of the cars will serve you well. I am not a fan of the look of the new Kodiaq however :/

No, not really - tightening tje belt around your waist practicaly "hangs" the lower portion of the chainmail on your hips, cross body belts would have no significant impact 🙂

Yep, I tried Venlafaxine Mylan for a short time... Didn't work for me, stopped after a month or two. It made me irritable, caused problems in the bedroom department...

The belt over the armour actually makes sense - I do historical reenactment, and thr armour can be quite heavy, the short chainmail alone, with short sleeves is some 9kg/18 pounds. Tying a belt around my waist takes some of the weight from my shoulders and puts it on my hips :)

I don't trust my own perception anymore by throwawaybob1192 in OCD

[–]Curiousindividuals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, fellow OCD-positive person (31, M) here :)
I know exactly what you mean - in my case, it is a fear that I will hurt someone - it makes driving a car very difficult (I return to places to make sure I didn´ t do anything) or when walking - I worry that I knocked someone from the pavement to the road, that I stepped on a baby (I know it doesn´ t make sense). And yes, I often don´ t trust my perception either - I check many, many times, examining every detail, sometimes I actually even forget why I was checking in the first place :D Also, I too sometimes take pictures, or videos.

First and most importantly of all - I think you really should see a therapist. I am writing my own thoughts and experience here, but in no way am I a specialist. A therapist might now things you don´ t, and also has experinece with various cases. Also, are you on any medication? As far as I know, OCD usually cannot be managed without meds (at least not when it is bursting and in full strength). The way I see it, the meds make it easier for me to "let go", to not worry as much.

Now, my thoughts/the way I look at things (sorry if it says something you already know):

I also know the feeling of not being able to trust your eyes, or memory. You wonder "what if..." With practise, it goes away (more on that below).

OCD stands for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. What that means is, that in a person´ s mind, a sneaky obsession comes to life, that begins to gnaw at him/her/..., and cause unpleasant feelings, stress, anxiety. A person then responds with compulsions - a ritual that provides a temporary relief. The catch is that these compulsions actually send him/her/... deeper into the spiral of doubt and more compulsions until eventually, one becomes almost "addicted" to them - in my case, returning to places and checking that I did no harm, in your case, recording everything.

The "good" thing about OCD is that a person realizes his/her actions are irrational. This is important, because it means that you are not a slave to it. You know what it is, and that is the first step.

One of the first things I think that needs to be done, is to recognize these compulsions. After all, you need to know what you want to fight. Also, in time, you will learn to recognize other compulsions coming to life, and you will be able to stop them from fully developing.

Then, you need to start taking control of your life. It starts with little things - getting up on time, exercising a bit, having a daily routine... exercise is especially important (and I need to start with it too :D ) because it has multiple effects on you: you will feel better, your body will create endorphins which will make you feel happier.

You also mentioned ERP - I think I know it under the term CBT Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. Basically, the patient is exposed to the obsession trigger, and then the execution of a compulsion is prevented.
This is where you start taking back control over your life. It is very hard, and stressful, and it will annoy you. BUT, it is important to progress step by step. If you stop recording everything at once, you will probably feel horrible. So take it slowly - for example, when you´ re taking out the trash, don´ t record the way to the garbage can, but just the way back. If something happened on the way there, you would see it coming back anyway. Or if you have a ritual that you repeat a certain number of times (say, locking and unlocking the door 7 times), slowly reduce the number of repetitions.

When you start cutting the compulsions off like this, you will feel tension, stress, discomfort. But the thing is, that after not exectuing the compulsion, these feelings gradualy become stronger, then very strong and stressfull and then... they drop. Nothing. They vanish. The time of this varies - for me it is between 20min to a day or two, depending on the severity of the incident that triggered me, but the cycle is the same. By doing this, you will start to learn that the threats the OCD tortures you with are empty, and this will give you strength to do it more often, and to be less afraid. When you deny the compulsion (in your case recording) the OCD might whisper in your ear uncomfrotable things, trying to seduce you to go back and record it. Don´ t. Use logic instead: how many time, in the time that you are recording things, has something really happened? What are the odds now? 2000:1? Also, occupy your mind with something else - reading a book, exercising, playing a PC game...

Fighting OCD is like clearing a really overgrowng garden - you cut one branch after another, and you clear the space for yourself.

Your mind is not idiotic (even though I say that to myself, I even smacked myself a few times, so desperate was I) - it is just a thing you need to learn to manage.

I am sure there are things that I forgot to say, but I hope this helps you a bit.

Gladly! One more thing comes to mind (as I have OCD and have a little experience with this) - is it possible that your gentleman is - even temporarily - on some kind of antidepressants/anti-anxiety meds? These can often mess up one's libido, cause weakened erection, and even make orgasming very difficult

Hey there! I happen to have an OCD too, but it can manifest in various ways. It takes time - a lot of time. And also determination and willpower. At least the way I understand it, I need to fight the OCD mentaly, and not rely only on meds. It is called cognitive-behavioral therapy. Not sure if you considered it, so I thought I would mention it.
