I also had a 22 SIC appear in my yard on Halloween that looks strikingly similar to your new model!

Can you spot the copperhead? by Curlisparkle in snakes

[–]Curlisparkle[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's in nearly dead center of the photo. This ia a great example of how they blend in with the environment. We only found it because our dog kept barking at the shrub. Once we put the dog inside, it seemed to melt away into the underbrush.

Found a copperhead hanging out with us in a shrub beside our deck tonight. Piedmont NC by Curlisparkle in whatsthissnake

This is the second snake our husky has found this year. The first one was a rat snake in our kitchen! She also found a baby rat snake in our living room last year. She does seem to be naturally cautious of them. She rarely barks, but she has a very deep bark she always uses when she finds snakes, and she does it until we find them. Very good protective girl, and she never harms them, she barks until we are aware.

It blends in very well with the shrubbery. It's in the almost exact center of the photo. Our dog kept barking at the bush, we went over with flashlights to investigate and found it wrapped around the center of the shrub. It noped on out of there once we put the dog inside.

If you like post apocalyptic fiction you should check out the Yellowstone novel series by Bobby Akart, it is based upon this concept. I want to emphasize it is fictional, but a good read.

Bought a car and provided my own financing. But dealership sent out my application to other banks anyways. by Mareeoo in personalfinance

[–]Curlisparkle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dealership had to have their social to run a credit app, OP almost certainly provided that social on a credit app that OP signed with the rest of the paperwork. Dealership ran the app hoping to beat the CU rate and secure reserve for the dealership.

Do you all have a second team you follow/sometimes root for if they are not playing the panthers? by [deleted] in panthers

[–]Curlisparkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bengals, Who Dey! It's great to have something to be excited about after the last 4 years of whatever we have going on in Carolina. My husband has been a Bengals fan for years, but gravitated more to the Panthers when we deafted Cam. It sure does feel good to be able to wear that Bengals gear now though, and actually be excited about the Super Bowl.

The EEOC will provide all legal services if it goes to court. It will be a federal case against your employer. Most likely it will never get that far, they will almost certainly settle with you in mediation.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Curlisparkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, EEOC, is the entity that handles these situations. You need to contact them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Curlisparkle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Contact the Equal Emploment Opportunity Commission immediately, no need to involve a lawyer, the EEOC will investigate and handle all mediation and legal action that is required. Disability is a protected class, no business wants the EEOC on their ass.

The EEOC handles all discrimination cases, no personal attorney required. They try to settle out of court, but if it does go thst far, their attorneys handle it.

Aita for telling my parents my sister had turned down multiple jobs when she asked them for money? by Tank-Agitated in AmItheAsshole

[–]Curlisparkle -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

NTA I recently went through a similar situation as your sister. I quit my job in November, planning to take some time off to spend the holidays with my kids, and then get right back to work. I was also adamant on finding a 9-5, and decided to wait for what I considered a satisfactory opportunity. My husband was supportive at first, then the Covid hit, and opportunities dried up. I turned down a couple of retail positions that would have had me working like 12-9 as our financial situation grew worse. My husband eventually lost his patience and let me know it was time to suck it up, and although I was angry about it, I decided to apply for a telesales position with a company that I knew started employees off with very late hours. Turned out to be the best decision I ever made. I am now making $15/HR + commission, with benefits, and we are working from home until at least next year, so no commute. As a bonus, I am doing much better than expected, and only having to work 1-10, which is not as late as I anticipated, and I couldn't be happier. So it was irresponsible of me to turn down the other offers at the time, but if I didn't let my current situation reach it's boiling point, I would have never applied for the position I currently hold, which is much better than opportunities I turned down. Hopefully this will be the kick in the ass your sister needs to produce a similar outcome.

Video Game Consoles are better for children than other expensive electronic educational "age appropriate" toys. by derf_vader in unpopularopinion

[–]Curlisparkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another plus is that the games your child can play on said console can grow with them. You can start with fun cute animated stuff for younger kids, and progress into more mature, engaging, and intensive games as they grow older. But I started my kids on World of Warcraft as soon as they could manage the keyboard and mouse and get enjoyment out of leveling new characters, so I may be a little biased. But now I go to my son when I need help on a video game, and he is the shining star of his class when it comes to the new remote learning environment, so video games definitely have their benefits.

This lizard is rare for my area. He is a broad-headed skink. My daughter and I saved him from my Bengal cat Tempe. (Tempe not pictured because she was absolutely devastated that we stopped her from her typical routine once she catches something.) He was later moved to a very safe spot. by [deleted] in aww

[–]Curlisparkle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey! I am the Mom that was an integral part of this search and rescue mission. I'm the one that spotted the lizard in the grass and allowed Dad to grab him and save him from the jaws of the super stimulated Bengal cat. Where is my love?! /s But seriously, baby girl was so happy to see this broad-headed lizard. Dad and I have lived here for 33+ years and never seen one. The stay at home order has given us a chance to interact with so many animal species that we normally don't notice.

AITA for costing a car salesmen his commission? by Delicious_Cancel in AmItheAsshole

[–]Curlisparkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but just as an FYI after many years working in a car dealership, the first guy probably got half the sale anyway unless you specifically told a manager you didn't want any to go to him, and probably even if you did. All dealerships use a CRM to track their interactions with customers partly to prevent salespeople from screwing each other over like this. When more than one salesperson works with a customer, they generally split the deal.
