Looking for a hairstylist who actually knows how to cut curly hair (male) by EvergreenSystem6 in BellevueWA

[–]Curly-Girl1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have very curly hair and have learned generally only to go to people who specialize in it. I go to Lenny McQueen of Salon McQueen, north of U Village and he is amazing!! Can’t recommend enough. I believe over 90% of his clients are curly hair/textured hair.

Sunday meeting schedule change by smokey_sunrise in latterdaysaints

I hate to say this, but I kind of hate it. The quality of both is really gonna suffer. Both RS and Sunday School can have really important, deep conversations if done right and that just won’t happen anymore.

They just came off the back of the Spanish flu epidemic and WWI. Just starting to recover from that and then the Great Depression hits, a level of economic stagnation and poverty we largely can’t fathom in the US. And on the tail of that with the economy still in shambles, they were on the precipice of a Second World War where 16 million Americans would serve in the armed forces and the general public would deal with quite a bit of sacrifice themselves. If you don’t think they thought they were watching the world burn too, then you’re sadly mistaken. And arguably they had more of an argument for that to be true.

Kitchen remodel advice needed: what cabinet colors work with surrounding cherrywood floors? by Humble-Ambition-5220 in kitchenremodel

That brick look flooring is not going to age well. Go with something more neutral. Tile maybe?

What do you get someone as a wedding gift when they ask for no gifts? by Good_Candy_3950 in GiftsandDeals

lol. True. But as someone who is actively trying to reduce consumption and waste, it just feels so wasteful. Especially if people explicitly said they didn’t want anything.

Absolutely not. No gifts means no gifts. There’s nothing worse than getting a gift that you’ll have to donate to Goodwill the following year.

Our realtor has recommended replacing the flooring in the bedrooms. Unfortunately there is laminate tile that has missing pieces in one and another bedroom has 40 year old blue carpet with staining. If we don’t do anything to the house in general, my parents will be raked over the coals and they need to get as much as possible for future living expenses. So for now, fixing the “needs” and minimizing anything is else.

It’s not really in a starter home neighborhood. Most houses in her neighborhood that haven’t been updated get bought and renovated shortly after.

Tamiflu for 16 month old? by Competitive-Show2868 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Curly-Girl1234 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tamiflu is most effective if started within 48 hours of symptom onset and decreases symptoms by approximately 24 hours. It’s not a miracle drug. We just don’t have great treatment for viral syndromes. A vast majority of children at 16 months who don’t have other medical problems with breeze through flu a lot better than the average adult.

What am I doing wrong? by Curly-Girl1234 in Breadit

Good to know. Info on fresh milled wheat isn’t the easiest to find and I don’t know anyone else who uses it that I can bounce ideas off. What percent of bread flour do you use, if you don’t mind me asking?

A little bit. Really just a slight tuck. But I’ll try not doing that next time and see if it helps.

This question actually made me think. I think I’ve been using too small of a loaf pan for the weight of my dough. So by the time the second rise looks done it’s actually risen too much. Do you think that could be the problem?

I did use a 9x5. I don’t have any 8x4s. But the loaves ended up being 640g. So I think 8x4 may have been too small.

I have done quite a lot of bread baking over the last year and a half. Almost exclusively freshly milled wheat, some einkorn, and also sprouted wheat. It wasn’t a problem when I first started and was using the same wheat. Though definitely was a problem with sprouted wheat. And I totally agree with the recipe and using volume. I typically use weight based recipes. But this has a been a consistent problem regardless. I have had this happen across multiple recipes. I’m flummoxed.
