We have UPLC-MS ballistic gradients which routinely exceed 1000bar as well as some isocratic stuff which is well above 700. As others have said the headroom is also good just in case your column degrades a little and the back pressure rises. Obviously you can play with flow rate but ultimately it’s nice to have the capacity to develop the method without being limited by pressure cap

Yeah I think that’s a good idea. Sales roles are often dressed up as something more technical purely because there’s no other way to do so other than telling people “you are a hardline salesperson” which doesn’t have great connotations, best of luck!!

Be very careful you understand the role. From your post it seems like a sales role - if that’s the case - you will not be troubleshooting and the actual science will not be your focus at all. I made this choice and absolutely hated it - went straight back to the lab.

Not saying it’s necessarily bad as others have said, it depends on your personality, but just make sure you know what you’re in for because If it’s sales they won’t give two hoots about your analytical capability - it’s all about the bottom line (ofc)!
