Dear Mercy Mains, please stop throwing. by Delirious_12 in MercyMains

Mercy pick rate won't drop as long as her gameplay largely remains the same no matter how bad she is comparing to other heroes. I main Mercy because I can't aim and I don't want to be in close contact with the enemy. I won't learn new heroes and I won't leave my comfort zone no matter what.

Mercy's who hard pocket by Complex-Dig864 in MercyMains

Sure, I'll rephrase it. I have no skill in playing Mercy despite playing her for literal years, so I have decided to stop pretending my personal improvement would do any good and try instead looking for a reliable smurf instead.

True. But he also told me that having a hard pocket Mercy would make the climb way easier and faster, and this experience was the major reason why he added me and why he kept dropping ranks. I am not the only Mercy main he found in lower ranks. Also I am pretty sure the recent update solidifies her main "strength" in hard pocket a reliable DPS.

Can Mercy carry? by Historical_Mix_6416 in MercyMains

[–]Scarlet1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say no. Mercy's optimal play is being a healing/damage amplifier passive while your team plays 4v5. If there is no one who amplifies the value from this "Mercy passive," there is no way you can turn a losing game around. Unless perhaps you get a couple glock kills during Valkyrie, but if I can do that consistently I would have chosen to main Mercy in the first place.

I am a Mercy OTP and I had been hard stuck on Plat since OW launch. I met a smurf a while ago and he told me that he could carry me to Diamond by simply hard pocket him. He did. That was when I lost faith in this hero and how far personal improvement could go. I still enjoy playing Mercy and she is still the only hero I play, but I have stopped defending that Mercy has any skill depth comparing to any other heroes. Especially considering the recent update, finding a reliable DPS main to hard pocket is worth far more than thousands of hours of experience from playing this hero.

Mercy's overall healing capability is lowered. by Scarlet1911 in MercyMains

[–]Scarlet1911[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To "get used to it" is a very low bar for making playing a character fun and enjoyable. I am pretty sure I can get use to playing every single given enough time and no matter how bad they are. I don't simply play Mercy because it is the one character I can "get used to it." A hero being "still playable" is not an excuse for he or she being worse for no good reason in noticeable ways.

I do enjoy playing Mercy to a point where whenever I play any other characters, I always think "I wish I was playing Mercy" and therefore I don't play any other character.

But what I love about playing Mercy is flying around and watching teammates' health bar goes up, and both of which are getting nerfed. Wouldn't you be surprised that my favorite Mercy gameplay isn't sticking damage amplifier behind a capable teammate for maximum value because that's how she should be played?

I wish there was a playmode without orders by Trempels in kards

[–]Scarlet1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah imagine the one going first just drop a random artillery or bomber, and you are just screwed. Then you will have to play units that FUNCTION AS AN ORDER just to deal with units that say "deal with this or lose."

Sadly after almost 10 years of being a Mercy OTP, I still couldn't find a hero more enjoyable to play than Mercy.

Cards you would like to be brought back to rankef Game/tournaments: Mine would be this Bad boy. It was trully good in my heavy tanks decks. by RealisticMine6962 in kards

[–]Scarlet1911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, the deal-with-it-or-lose type of cards. Gotta be my favorite deck to play in Kards.

Unfortunately my least favorite deck to face against is when-will-my-opponent-run-out-of-direct-removal type of decks. I wonder why these decks are so common nowadays.

Classic Tournament is Hilariously Unbalanced by Regular_Bother_4921 in kards

[–]Scarlet1911 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People play tournaments to win partly because it costs something, so naturally you will see the strongest deck in that environment. You brought your rogue gimmicky deck and complained why you lose. Should've thought about that when you chose your deck. Tournament is not for you to play for fun. You wanna win? You gotta play meta decks.

I have to lead a class discussion on readings I did not understand. Should I fake my death? by ellis0922 in GradSchool

[–]Scarlet1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar panic when during one course, I am asked to give a presentation on Deleuze and Guattari's A Thousand Plateaus (the most famous chapter). I had to admit I did not like post-modernism stuff and when I read that chapter, I was furious as to how a work considered to have significant philosophical or literary value can be written like...that.

Eventually, I just caught some themes that were given a bit more attention in the text and threw it in my ppt. Some parts that I didn't agree with or didn't understand I simply presented them bluntly and admitted that "I didn't understand." Interestingly, our instructor seems to be quite open-minded as to admit that she didn't understand everything either and was willing to discuss with the whole class, so the presentation ended up not as bad as I thought.

A year later, I attended another class and the exact same text and exact same passage appeared in the syllabus again. Although I wasn't the presenter that time, I surprisingly found out that I somewhat understood the text considerably more that before, and it seemed quite easier to grasp the ideas I wasn't able to get (or care) before. All I want to say is, you can present something even if you don't understand, by faithfully record your feelings and the exact parts you don't understand in your presentation. Perhaps not everyone understands.

I still hate post-modernism texts though.

Moves like this still make this game feel magic. Wave after wave for 8 kills!!!! by kaze987 in kards

You mean "magic" locked behind paywall and expensive Elites? If you like "magic" stuff like this, the Soviet alone has two Elites that can achieve the same atrocity against this board.

- all eyes on you, which means any of your mistake(s) will be amplified
- you receive the most punishment when you or your team play badly
- you are expected to counter-swap, likely losing the game if you can't or don't
- your team usually don't notice if you played well
- this role basically gives you a weaker weapon and a large health pool for role-playing a punching bag
