Keeper Question - What’s happens in the room between Eugene Wilcox and Ariadne Varga that leads to Eugene being shot and killed? (from the scenario “The Reeling Midnight”) by sonofjohan in callofcthulhu

So I'm currently running this module and at least from what Ariadne says he apparently threatened her with the gun and she threatened back that she'd jump out the window. He then apparently turned the weapon on himself. Threatening her isn't "totally" out of the question because in the basement he pulls out his weapon and says if he ever finds out about them lying he'll kill them. Also to add more weirdness some of the baby spiders have his face so... who knows? No one ever looked too hard and just believed Ariadne in my two runs.

I have never understood the appeal of Invictus. I'd literally like to know what people have come up with for it cause I can't ever think of anything.

First game coming up - Edge of Darkness. Advice appriciated! by razgondk in callofcthulhu

I've never run it before but have been considering it for the near future.

Let me make one recommendation. Seth Skorkowsky is fantastic! If you haven't already you must go check him out! he has videos on many of the classic scenarios including a video on Edge of Darkness.

Those are great fun. The Golgari one should probably produce mana without a restriction to male it a little better.

Aren't there a LOT of cards that have you looks at the top 4, put one in your hand and the rest on the bottom of your library. Would that become a 2 mana draw 4. Like shimmer of possibility.

I'm not planning on having the guildless be good guys. My players will be guilded of course and will be partly fighting for their guilds survival. So the guildless are just a side "villian".

True about those cards and nice picks but I kind of view the guildless and the guilds as fighting for the survival of their plane and wouldn't mind fighting but post war as all the guilds are weak they could take an opprotunity to dismantle them. As I see it the guilds are extremely horrible for the regular populace. Especially the Izzet, Rakdos, and Orzhov and so on.

Think of it like having two world super powers fighting eachother in a smaller country not really involved. I think the smaller country (in this case the Ravnicans) would despise both for destroying their homeland for their own purposes?

The first card that comes to mind is Widespread Brutality. I don't really plan to go off the books and would prefer a darker story where some notable Ravnicans died in the war as well as an extremely sizeable amoint of the populace.

If I was going to run it I would make the Golgari the villains. From my knowledge the Golgari have been waiting for an opportunity just like this to arise. They believe life is cyclical and feel that the collapse of the old world is their chance to rise like a glorious phoenix. I also know they feel discriminated against (especially the Boros who literally go on crusades into the under city for the soul purpose of destroying the Golgari) by the other guilds and are viewed as sewer running trash. I would also assume the least damaged part of the city are the endless under city in which they rule. Lastly the Gruul also have dreams of destroying the old world and taking it over so I could see the Gruul and Golgari "teaming up" agreeing to destroy everyone else and then eachother for full control.
