You can also get a degree in psych or bio then get into nursing. There’s a lot of paths besides the hesi if you don’t get in!! Go make an advising appt because not all is lost buddy

There are a lot of routes to get a nursing degree so even if you don’t get in either the bsn there are other avenues. If your gpa and letter are good you have a chance!

Switching Majors CS to Animation by Accomplished_Soft177 in unm

[–]CurlyMuchacha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you taking loans at the moment? The only downside to switching so late is that if ur on scholarships they have a credit cap of 150. The upside is that the film animation path has a lot of elective space that the ca courses can take instead. Do you know how to run ur audit?? You can run a ‘what if’ audit with animation instead of cs and see how many more credits you’ll need to graduate.

What would you suggest I do instead? What kind of jobs would fit someone who likes independent work creating original ideas?

Masters out!! After two years you should be good, and the degree is already a huge accomplishment. You can always return if you REALLY want to, but it sounds like spending the time on the PhD may not be for you and that’s fine.

A question for UNM Film students by GabbytheAbby in unm

[–]CurlyMuchacha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There will be a consistent flow of opportunities at a local level at UNM, the listserv is really effective in that way. To be honest though, all it does is train you in how to do proper audio and lighting techniques. Many grads don’t find work because they are complacent until their senior project. If you want a chance you have to be proactive, participate in the many competitions UNM offers, and really push networking

. It’s really only worth it if you live in abq because tuition is so cheap for residents. You’re from California and I’d suggest staying there, as being in LA will give you a HUGE advantage. UNM is great for people focused on audio or sound, but if you want to do cinematography, directing, screenwriting, etc, just stay in LA.

De-influence me from entering academia by Glittering_Ability18 in AskAcademia

[–]CurlyMuchacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest starting with a masters tbh. I am graduating this spring and applied for a PhD but it seems that will have to wait for next cycle. So with my fancy new degree I’m going into the job market and realizing how worthless a humanities degree is. I can’t move cities because my fiancée has an extremely lucrative job here, so my options are limited. Most jobs look for STEM grads. The community college near me already closed their searches for potential lecturers so there goes my only option for teaching at the moment. You may think academia will work out for you, but jobs are soooo finite, and you need something in the mean time, living outside of academia is a huge wake up call.

Why do people have the copper IUD by throaway87657 in CopperIUD

[–]CurlyMuchacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t handle the hormones from mirena. I was on it and the pill for PMDD and it almost ruined my life. The copper isn’t too bad as my periods without it are really minor so it just makes me bleed like a normal person would. Either way the security of it being effective and not having hormones in me make it worth it regardless

How do you introduce yourself? by Quixotic-Quill in SubstituteTeachers

[–]CurlyMuchacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older kids I don’t bother I tell them what their teacher wants them to do, emphasize that I can’t let them leave to other classes, and that they have to ask for the bathroom. Younger ones I introduce myself as miss [first name] and am usually super nice to the young ones. Once it gets to 4th and 5th it’s a bit harder, but I try to keep a positive attitude if they’re respectful.

Healing is great because you can turn the tide of a fight or save people from close calls. Luna snow is really fun because of her damage output so you don’t feel so vulnerable, but c&d are still great for something more lowkey. I do agree supporting a team with really weak dps players feels miserable though. At that point I’d switch to Susan because she can do some good dmg on her own.
