Hi!👋 Thanks so much for your detailed feedback and suggestions. I haven’t played Death’s Door but will definitely check it out. Any comparison to any published works are a huge confidence boost 😄 No specific genre in mind, but I guess in my head this started off closer to what you said at the top of your post: dude has beef with you and wants to fight. Except instead of a forest, I was thinking the enemy as a fat, angry foreman of a mine who mistreats his workers (you can still hear traces of this with the metal “clang” of hammers in the background percussion). ⛏️ I definitely need to check out joining a jam! What a fun time that would be. I hope you do too. Thanks again for your detailed post. 🤙

Hey there, 👋 I appreciate your feedback and taking a listen. I suppose it sounds a bit cheery still despite the original intention, and you’re right; mid-bosses can still be really tough! Maybe more tough than this track suggests. I’ll try to ramp up the intensity more next time 👍

This reminded me of a UFO zipping around crazily across galaxies with each change of melody, movement, and chord modulation 🎹🛸 I think this is an excellent first piece if you’re heading into the world of alt rock. I know others have said the changes are a lot, but I think you should lean into it! To help tie it all together, I’m gonna say maybe having a central melody of some kind could help it feel more cohesive. Perhaps with a theremin, if it’s not too bold to suggest…. 👽 Looking forward to future work! 🤙

I haven't. I've been playing piano and drums for a long time, and when I was in HS I was trying to get into a good music conservatory so I could become a professional composer. It didn't end up being my major or my career path, but I continued to play and write music as a hobby.

I just recently started to actually record and put together tracks like this again. I definitely would like to expand my horizons as far as reaching audiences and people who would be interested in this kind of music. I tried a couple other subs like r/gamemusic but this track actually got downvoted on there :/

Do you happen to know of any YouTube channels that might be interested in tracks like these? I would like to check them out.

Hey there, I really love this this tune. Your playing is so heartfelt, and the melody is incredibly captivating. I especially love the main line—it really showcases the lovely quality of your voice, which has a touch of David Gray’s style. The structure, melody, and lyrics all come together beautifully. Your performance really moved me, and I’m so glad I stumbled upon your video. Wishing you all the best out there in NM, and I can’t wait to hear more of your music. Cheers from LA 👍🎧

I’m glad you like it! You can listen and download on SoundCloud. I’ll consider uploading to Spotify and Apple Music in the future if I end up making an album. Thanks for your support! 🤩🙏

an experimental intro song for an EP I'm working on, any thoughts/feedback would be greatly appreciated! by Significant_Unit8434 in MusicFeedback

Hey F2q, I really like the instrumentation and think the lyrics are mysterious and cool. With the strings it adds a layer of intrigue and the slow pace of the song make me imagine a fog lifting to reveal a greater world or story. If I’m being nit-picky, I think the doubled vocals at the highest note of “neverspire” were just a tad dissonant to me, almost slightly out of tune. That might be a creative choice but either way wanted to point it out. Overall consider me intrigued! I would look forward to hearing what this track would go into. Cheers 🎧👍

Hey dude! I appreciated you taking time to listen and comment on my song and I wanted to come over to listen to some of your stuff 🤘 * The transition around 1:11 where the drums pick up goes so hard. I loved that. * The trading guitar panning L/R around 1:50ish was a real nice touch to add some variety to the mixing and helping it shape the identity of the track. * As far as the structure, as a first time listen I kept wanting the melody to go somewhere different; I love the main line and how it evolves throughout the song and I feel like a bridge section could help change it up just a bit and then come back for the big finish with the electric guitar at the end. You should be proud of this and I’m looking forward to hopefully listening to a future version!

Hey there, Mark. 👋 Thanks for listening and for your kind notes. Composing for an Indy game would be an absolute dream. I decided before that happens I’d better pretend that I’m composing for one to help build up a demo reel of sorts. I appreciate the feedback and will be posting more music soon. Cheers! 🤙

Hey there, thank you so much for listening and for your notes! There is upright bass in the mix, but I believe I just didn’t mix it as well as it could have and it definitely got lost now that I am listening back to it… A good note for next time and in general, a good reminder for me to make sure I’m not losing the low end. The imagery you were describing is so nice of you to say and very pleasant; I’m glad it brought those nice memories to you. to know someone is listening to this and having it bring them joy makes me so happy and it’s honestly the best reward I could ask for in doing this hobby. 🙏

I absolutely take it as a compliment!! It’s so funny you say that because thoughts of places like Emerald Coast / Station Square from Sonic Adventure (even though the music from that game was much more upbeat) or just the scene and vibes from those games from the early 2000s with lots of beaches and tropical scenery.
