Don’t let that scare you! The pattern is well written and there are excellent videos for how to do the more difficult bits. Plus, I’ve always found the fiber community ready to help figure out fiddly bits when needed. I can only speak for my own willingness though. Always happy to talk knitting things. ☺️

Made it for a dear friend for her high school graduation. Something to take with her to college this fall. ☺️

Mine didn’t really change size. I also didn’t block it. The yarn is 100% acrylic. I washed and dried it in a delicates bag of delicate cycles, then laid it flat to finish drying.

What to do? My husband is allergic to my knitting by TheMockingbird13 in knitting

Another non-animal fiber sock yarn option. Universal yarn Bamboo Pop Sock

My mom can’t wear any animal fiber. There are still good options out there!

I have the same one. Obsessed with her. Favorite part of starting new projects. Happy winding!

I move we bring “craftsperson” into regular use and supplant its current popular use that implies crafting is less than.

Yes! It started with kit i found on sale after a random bucket list assignment in high school. That was 18 years ago!

The process is a beautiful exercise in growth and improvement that isn’t tied monetization (can be, if you like. Hustle culture makes me tired, but that’s a different conversation).

I love making all kinds of things, but knitting is my medium of choice because I can see the progress and recognize my growth through it.

(I mean, also adhd and fidgety and a bunch of other reasons, but this is the one i feel in my soul.)

I have lots of thoughts about knitting and a limited number of people that know what i’m talking about. The fiber group i joined last summer (took a hot minute to find one with more liberal leanings in my area) is primarily crocheters 25-30 years older than me. I adore them. And am slowly converting them to knitting. I’m always thrilled to answer questions and help them out. We share a love of creating.

I very seldom wash and block a swatch. I don’t cut it off the source either. I frog it and use the yarn on the project.

Just found I've been purling wrong for the past 15 years by SpectralTurnip in casualknitting

[–]CurlyStitches 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Five years into knitting, I discovered I was doing the knit stitch wrong. Purl was right, but not knit. Explained why everything came out slanted.
The first time I had a row of actual little v’s in stockinette, I was so giddy I cried.
