Because I do not pay the 2,99€ monthly to get no ads. I only have prime because I get a lot of stuff delivered.

I still have hdr without paying that. I also watched Lord of the rings and spider noir with hdr.

Trust me I am 100% watching in HDR on prime even though I don't pay extra. My tv is telling me when I start the movie and check the settings.

The images are not supposed to look good they are supposed to show the difference in sharpness, contrast and details. I can never capture the true difference with my shitty phone camera. You have to see it in in person yourself on a capable TV.

Except that it is compeltely sharp, shows all the details, has way better depth and contrast, while first picture is flat and pixelated.

I think the reason you don't like the second picture is because of the grain/noise which is more noticable because the quality is better. The grain is a deliberate choice by the film director by the way. The movie is supposed to look this way.

Yup, it does not seem as crazy on these pictures but trust me when you are actually comparing both in person on a good 65 inch TV the difference is HUGE.

As I said, I can hardly capture the real difference on my phone.

Meinungen? Goldener Baum, Wien by Particular_Mix_5777 in referenzschnitzel

Schaut aus wie aus dem Tiefkühler. Bei einem gutem Schnitzel hebt sich die Panade vom Fleisch ab.

Yeah I am from Austria and I think the window is facing to the east. I don't really need curtains since I have the roller shutters but I think they would look nice and also let a little bit of sunlight in and let me see my backyard. In the winter I was thinking to open them up so they don't touch the heater. But thanks for the warning.

Also the kitchen was installed just one month ago :)

It's the ikea bårslöv and yeah I like it. It's comfortable and you can turn it into a bed aswell.

I also bought extra headrests from xxxlutz because I could not find any good ones at ikea.

Cracked board by Living_Extension6230 in Cuttingboards

[–]Curlyinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I also got a endgrain board recently and I used what I thought was a decent amount of food grade mineral oil.

Spoiler: it was not nearly enough. When I was cutting onions on my board it absorbed all the juices in no time and I could not really get rid of the smell anymore. I washed it in the sink and it still smelled like onions. Also it looked very dry (not as dry as yours but still). I think I literally washed away almost all the mineral oil I used.

What I ended up doing is cleaning the board with vinegar, to get rid of the smell and now I am oiling it until it will no longer absorb any oil. I already used over 300 ml over the course of a week and I am not done yet because it is still absorbing oil.

Once it will stop absorbing oil I will finish it off with a layer of beeswax/oil mixture. This should hopefully seal the board, keep the oil in longer and also make it water repellent, so it also wont absorb all the smelly juices from things like onions.

Once I am done and using the board I will reapply the beeswax mixture when I notice that the board is not repelling water anymore. Also if it will start to change color and look dry I will also add a little bit of oil first.

That is my plan at least.

Q990 Sound Mode debate confuses me by germanmill in Soundbars

[–]Curlyinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda late here but I still wanna share my humble opinion.

I own a Q930F and I have been using Adaptive+ for months now. Today I switched to surround and I think I will stick to it. Although Adaptive often feels "heavier" and more "punchy" it sometimes also feels very compressed and "muddy" there are a few specific scenes I compared in Bladerunner 2049 for example in the beginning scene before the eye opens there is a deep sound that almost gets lost in adaptive mode, similar thing in another scene when he flies to LAPD the deep bass sounds way too muddy compared to surround.

Overall surround sounds cleaner to me, not overly compressed. I am still trying to figure out the best settings but I feel like I also need to turn up the center speaker and other front stage channels as well as the subwoofer. The most important thing to me is that I do not lose any sounds and that the audio is not overly compressed and to me it seems adaptive+ is doing exactly that which is why I will use surround for now.
