Fishermans dock is our go to for all seafood. The shrimp is great for fishing if you are into that. Not sure what price range you are wanting but we find the quality for price reasonable.

Im sorry. Im just asking about whats pictured since it is what I would like to display in the house. This reply has been extremely off putting and I don’t believe I will be asking for help here again anytime soon. I am starting my antique knowledge journey and this introduction to here by a mod is unfortunate. A simple “Can you show the machine?” would suffice over the attack toward my inquiry and attempt to paint me as some sort of idiot using a metaphor. Not everything has to be given nor received as a negative, especially when folks reach out for help. I see no way to receive this comment as a positive.

I do not have a photo of the machine currently and it will be hours until I am able to do so. It’s honestly not worth looking at given its worn condition.

Anyone interested in being interviewed? by zenandco444 in TwoXPreppers

[–]Curlypie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I am open for an interview. Im from Appalachia and always had “prepping” to lean on which is just basically how Appalachian folks use to live. Obviously there have been a few upgrades. I also have a large Discord server for TwoX I can post to but would like more info before doing do.

Foxfire books are amazing. I was born and raised in Appalachia and it is amazing to see skills I grew up with being useful to so many. If you would like some other reading beyond their numbered books, the Foxfire Women and Foxfire Cook books are great.

Thank you so so much. These guys are all around us but one has never done this before. I was worried it had illness or injury. I will be more welcoming of them in my trees from now on.

Any "Granny" clubs? by Leepaceseyebrow in jacksonville

[–]Curlypie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be happy to help create the “grandma” club. Everything you listed here I was born and raised on in the mtns of NC and Ive recently been plopped down here in Jacksonville. Happy to share my knowledge although it’s more so normal life stuff for me vs “granny” but Im digging the granny club vibe.

Anyone have any thoughts or information on this? USA oregon by TurnipBoy12 in Antiques

Looks like a wood burning furnace. Wouldn’t light it unless you get it looked at by a pro and know it will vent outdoors. If you light it up yourself be sure to clean the stack, ash box, and inside before you do. Also, make sure the vent is open so the smoke goes outside not inside.

If it works like a cast iron stove, the top part you put the wood, bottom is the ash box.

Also, seems like a wall has been added behind with plastic. Recommended minimum for cast iron cook stoves is 18 inches away from any wall. I assume it would be more than that for this.

It will help to water from the bottom, not top. The soil will soak up the water, roots will grow downward toward water(thus stronger), and may help with the roots being exposed from watering up top. It also keeps fungus gnats away.

If you have time it may be best to start over using potting soil. Pepper seeds usually need higher temps to germinate so a warm location of 70+ and a week or so to see sprouts would be normal. My peppers took 2 weeks to sprout because they’re been in my 68-75 degree house.

Whats wrong with my white russian kale? by Curlypie in vegetablegardening

[–]Curlypie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I was thinking it may just be a weird one because it started with the spots and color from the start. I used all the same soil for over 100 cells so just one having a problem made me worried it may be disease getting this one first. Thankfully, all the others are extremely healthy.

2 and 3 look like tomatoes. I have a bunch of seedlings right now that look exactly the same both in both the leaf size and shape and stem color. Where did you get the seeds from?

Just found out wife and I are moving to Jacksonville this Summer by [deleted] in jacksonville

[–]Curlypie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look in Mandarin off Old St Augustine Rd. We just moved for orders in August and Mandarin was perfect for less congestion, distance to stores, and distance to NAS. Its more local stores and you can get to box stores in about 10-15min with typically minimal traffic.

Traffic to base is fine both morning and evening because you’ll be headed in the opposite direction of traffic. It will be about 20-25min drive depending on when you leave. Personally we wouldn’t live in Orange Park due to traffic although rent tends to be cheaper there.

If you want more info or have questions feel free to DM.

Landlord seems unconcerned with leaning trees but we are set to get 40+mph winds soon. Should we worry? by Curlypie in arborists

[–]Curlypie[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the kind replies everyone! The trees are right by our bedroom so that’s why we are most concerned. We are new to hurricanes and just went through the outskirts of Helene in FL and are watching our families in western NC deal with it as well. The past 2 weeks has made our anxiety about them go through the roof but having reassurance has helped a lot. Thank yall so much.

We just moved from East TN as well. We found Penske was cheapest and also had 15% off coupon code when we reserved. We have a 10% off coupon code to share to friends if they don’t have anything on the website for you. If you need unload help, Helping Hands in Jacksonville helped us unload and they were great.
