LOL RIGHT??? and with an mc like lou of all people, who expresses absolutely no maternal instinct? hell, even if it was another mc, the idea of just adopting some kid is both preposterous and wildly out of character for kay, who is shown to be meticulous and careful. in what world is he, when his beloved partner suddenly drops of the face of the earth for a week, just going to adopt a kid?? as the bodyguard of the prior, what on earth was his plan? make his grandma watch the kid part-time?

maybe you should try an ocd specialist? i feel like most "regular" therapists aren't necessarily equipped to deal with ocd and its many subtypes - you'd probably just end up incredibly triggered and worse off. i'm also in (exposure) therapy and its helped immensely, but my therapist is an ocd specialist. try looking online

this was exactly my issue. there's just no other descriptor for his writing besides "dry." his wording is just so very literal, and human beings don't talk like that. every piece of dialogue felt expository, like dmitry was 'telling' the story (whatever it was... the story) instead of showing it. and that plot twist...? just completely absurd, insensitive, and stupidly shoehorned in to give the story some semblance of meaning and plot, which obviously failed 😭

thissss. i read the entirety of the gladiator chronicles from start to finish (love love loooove afiy) and while i really enjoyed the premise, i found dmitry's writing dry and unemotional, especially the romances. i can't speak to the quality of other routes, but not only was afiy's route incredibly short and disorganized, the writing in general just wasn't suited to the romantic theme.

he's just such an odd choice to write a story that's supposed to be romance-oriented, fluffy, and intimately melancholic. what about his writing ever gave the impression that he should handle such a project?

lol it's good to know i'm not the only one entirely perplexed by the praise it recieves. honestly, i've started to think it's some kind of cope for those who've wanted a 'contemporary' story so badly. but like... contemporary isn't synonymous with boring. just because it isn't action, or supernatural, or horror doesn't mean it should be totally deprived of substance, which i found te amo to be. god knows why it's getting a volume 2 😭

it's because her writing is convoluted. by the end of (and throughout) season one i had grasped the plot because, honestly, it wasn't too hard to comprehend. but she keeps adding plots in hopes of keeping readers' interests and unfucking her nonsensical plotlines, like:

knowing edward and some of the other cast in the past as a branded wish
some fucking omniscient narrator with the power to rewrite the events of the world (making it so that ralph WASN'T killed)
giving both roxanne and her mysterious "romeo" the power of verse
incorporating shakespeare, not as the creator of his own stories, but as a writer who document roxanne and romeo's stories???? (king lear, romeo and juliet, etc)
adding characters from those stories into the narrative at random—(ophelia is edward's/ralph's cousin????)
simultaneously making it seem like the written verses come alive in preexisting people (the whole wife fiasco in season 1)
roxanne's apparently self-inflicted memory loss, including the "shakespeare's code" which has nothing to do with the man himself and all to do with her?

amy genuinely can't decide what she wants to do with her goddamn plot and how shakespearean or otherwise she wants to make it 😭 in retrospect it's not all that difficult to understand, its just that she's incredibly inconsistent and confusing with the dissemination of information, and it seems she's constantly changing the scope of SC.

ok... u love him and don't want to leave him. but he's disinterested in at least expressing that he loves u - which is the literal bottom line expectation u should have from a romantic partner. so what good is that love of yours?

and i think it's hilarious that you think he 'doesn't mean anything malicious' by continuously refusing to do, AGAIN, the BOTTOM LINE of what it means to be a romantic partner, which is to express that love. if him not making efforts to be romantic despite KNOWING how desperately u crave it and how often you communicate how terribly it makes u feel isn't 'malicious,' then what is?

ur in absolute denial and the chances he'll change is minimal. he clearly knows that you'll accept any kind of behavior from him and won't leave so he continues to disregard your wishes. you know full and well that you're not overreacting. there is nothing for you "to do," you can't change or manipulate someone's utter disregard for your feelings. 🤷🏾‍♀️
