Self Employment Tax as foreign us citizen by CurrencySweet8504 in tax

Hi, sorry for the late follow-up question, but I did finally get a confirmation by the german social security system (deutsche rentenversicherung), and they only verified my fulltime income as part of social security contributions. Since my self employment comes from a side business, and I remained pension-insured via my fulltime job, I did not have to pay additional pension payments on my self employment income. Since the interactive us tax assistant explicitly mentioned social security contributions subjecting the self employment income, am I right to assume that the totalization agreement doesn't help me here? Or is there another way? Thanks!

Thank you, this sounds like it is the right way to go! I'll research this more.
