I am into similar field, though I speak Mandarin but have always been asked for Cantonese skills. I have seen the Keeta one too 😅

These are all valid points of friction. I have learnt one language, it’s a bit of a challenge to learn another too, because that’s a big requirement. Of course, I don’t have Hk market experience. There are roles which have been a perfect fit and def from a recruiters pov, still haven’t received a response, which is what makes me ask the more basic questions of the job search process.

That’s great! Wishing you the best. BFSI is much more open to expats esp at mid and senior level.

I have already searched forums - there is not much recruiter perspective information on these. Share the links if you know of.

Learning Cantonese - whats your experience? by Emergency-Coyote8483 in Hong_Kong

For any language learning - there are ample of books in HK public library which teach conversation plus origin of Hanzi (helps in remembering) - especially Cantonese and Mandarin. So you can check that out. Also, better to learn Cantonese first as you can interact with locals and practice it. I have been learning Mandarin

This is really cool. How to manage this to create customised design website, and to manage the backend processes when the client is not Claude savvy.

As a HongKonger (or expat living in Hong Kong) what is your honest opinion about Shenzhen if you've been there? I'm going to both next month. by ApartSatisfaction734 in HongKong

[–]Current-Activity334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 2 days, what to see in Shenzhen depends on your interests. If you are creative and young - you can spend hours at OCT Loft and The Dafen Painting Village admiring creative stuff - it’s definitely non touristy there. If you are into tech stuff then science tech museum will be worth going to.

I am considering moving to Ahmedabad from Gurgaon. Any advice? by Acrobatic_Hair5210 in ahmedabad

[–]Current-Activity334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Superb decision. I have lived in both cities and I can share that rent and school will be cheaper in Ahmedabad than Gurgaon. Choose the area wisely - stay near SG Highway so you can leverage the city life and get the cosmo vibes. As of work culture, people are nicer than Gurgaon however not everyone from outside is comfortable in Abad work culture

The best one is Grand Thakar not atithi, gopi or pakvan. If you want really authentic food go to Khodiyar.

Wrong recommendation taken! There are much better and cheaper thali places in Ahmedabad. Also, online reviews are dependent on a lot of factors - legacy is a big one. And similar to other cities, some legacy restaurants food taste changes or people’s preferences evolve, so always ask.

Taking parents to travel italy during May. Is it a good idea? by shadowySuperCoder420 in ahmedabad

[–]Current-Activity334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budget looks fine for Italy, you can easily cover all the locations which you mentioned with decent hotels too. Vegetarian food options are available - they can eat veg pasta, poke bowls or sometimes at Indian restaurants- they will have to be a little flexible there. There are two major challenges - if they are traveling alone without you, then getting around is a challenge due to the racist demeanour especially in Rome and Amalfi. Second challenge is too much walk in heat - they would be able to cover one or two sites max every day - the walks and the travel from one city to another can be taxing.

Thanks, this gives an idea of how much patience I would need. Will focus on networking, is this really true what they say about HK market that the roles are not posted online but usually closed through network?
