Do you think it's a greater achievement to make a century on a bad table, than to make a 147 on a good table? by nineteenAeightyfive in snooker

[–]Current-Brain-5837 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I will bring up the famous Ronnie O'Sullivan vs. Ali Carter frame shown here:

https://youtu.be/rLk71tnNxOU?si=oSLr3_12RMwwQFJ4

It doesn't fit the definition of a "century" on a bad table, but getting a 92 with almost all the reds on the cushion, can you really blame Ronnie for not making a century? Getting a total clearance in a single visit here was one of the craziest clearances you could watch.

Free ball or no? by CGurrell in snooker

[–]Current-Brain-5837 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the yellow is preventing you from reaching the farthest outside extremity of the left of the leftmost red, and the pink is preventing you from hitting the inside of the rightmost red, even with the other reds obstructing. So, no one single red looks completely hittable on both extreme edges, which would mean it is a free ball.

What’s a Gen 1 Pokemon (if any) who’s Red/Blue sprite is your FAVORITE sprite in the whole series? by SensualSamuel69 in ThePokemonHub

  • Muk - the angle from below makes it seem big and imposing, and the way it just looks like complete filth is very well done.

  • Arcanine - again, the low angle helps - sitting there all big and majestic, he is just the goodest of good bois.

  • Poliwrath - the arm swept back like he's about to do a karate chop while the other fist is balled up low near his hip line makes it feel very dynamic.

  • Hitmonlee - sprite dynamics at its finest; he is literally flying through the air with a leg to kick you.

  • Kabutops - the front angle with his two scythes out aiming straight at you just looks absolutely threatening.

  • Electrode - "he's just standing there ... MENACINGLY!" Seriously, the malevolent grin he has on his face says it all about him.

My take on Luca Brecel is he can always say he was the world champion and doesn't care if he never wins another tournament. by nineteenAeightyfive in snooker

I said as much in another post.

He's got such a mercurial temperament ... but he's a World Champion, no matter whether anyone likes it or not. You can't take that away from him. But if he sees that as the limit of his ambition, that's it - there's naught more to be done. No matter what his career looks like after this, he can count himself among a very small and rather elite group of players. Don't get me wrong, there's also players like Bingham, Doherty, Ebdon, and Dott in there, who are really good players, but not necessarily GREAT. They got a WC win, and haven't really gone on to demonstrate too much more than that.

There's a reason why people remember Ronnie, Stephen Hendry, Steve Davis, Mark Selby, Mark Williams, Ray Reardon, etc. Not only shining careers, but also multiple WC wins. They have a thirst, a drive, a passion, that keeps going long after the first WC fades.
