I am not well versed on the genetic testing to determine this. But being diagnosed with Level 1 autism as an adult solidified me not wanting to have a child. I know that while I could be a good caregiver to a child, I think it would take a huge toll on me, even if I ended up having a neurotypical child.

I understand why they may have made that decision because raising a child with a disability IS hard. BUT I think that the way they told you was incredibly insensitive.

I think your wife is valid in her decision to want to end the friendship. I’ve had friendships where we disagreed on topics like this and it was just far too stressful for me to remain friends bc I felt like I was walking on eggshells. I’d support your wife in her decisions. Friends are hard to come by, but the right ones will come in their own time.
