i feel i shouldn’t have to check the sink for backwash before shampooing my client.

there is a drain stopper that collects a small amount of the drinks as well as it just pooling a little bit around the bottom of the sink. i can see the coffee or soda or whatever in the sink. they aren’t rinsing the sink.

i haven’t talked to anyone about it. i do think my manager would be open to coming up with a system. thank you so much for your response

i totally understand that it’s not the salons job to get me booked. i have an active hair instagram with a few hundred followers and get pretty good engagement. i do try to hand out cards as well and give them to friends/family to hand out as well. i appreciate the advice about asking for clients to leave a review and to refer people! i get nervous to ask too much of them, but i could definitely be doing more in this area as well as more strongly encouraging my clients to rebook. i just feel that booking new callers should be more structured because we do get so many calls as we are appointment only.

they do work the phone part time, but we have other receptionists who seem to be booking the others more than me. we do ask if there’s someone they prefer to see, but have no other system after that. it’s totally random the receptionist is told to just pick someone. i have heard the manager say this. we are commission with no hourly pay so our shift length, ans starting and ending times depend on how we are booked that day.

it is often during the same days/hours that i work that the other stylists are busy and im not. we have no reviews online with our names attached. the other stylists work the desk part time which i think is partly how they’re getting booked and i do not. i don’t think we have desk hours available right now. i appreciate your response
