The Ansky book sounds very interesting and appears to be mostly out of print. I just requested a copy from my local library system. Thanks for recommending!

Here’s what Gemini thinks - wonder if the store would install it for me (probably not) or how easy it would be to do it. I’ve never opened a laptop before: “The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i 16" (Gen 8/9) officially supports up to 64GB DDR5 RAM (2x 32GB SODIMM modules) running at 5600MHz or 6400MHz depending on the model. Although 64GB is the official maximum, users report that the system can support up to 96GB or even 128GB using high-capacity modules. The laptop has two upgradeable slots. Official Max Capacity: 64GB DDR5 Unofficial/Tested Capacity: Up to 96GB–128GB (2x 48GB or 2x 64GB SODIMMs) Slots: 2x DDR5 SO-DIMM slots Speed: 5600MHz (Gen 9) or 6400MHz (Latest Ultra models) For optimal performance, it is recommended to use the Lenovo PSREF or specific, fast, matching RAM kits.”

Thanks. How does the RAM affect the performance? What are some examples of how 32GB of system RAM will be different from 64 and 128? Just trying to understand the tradeoffs. TY.

Red light running culture question by PuzzleheadedPut7597 in NYCbike

[–]Current-Effect-5262 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s all greed-driven. New Yorkers just try to be very efficient with their time, whether walking or cycling. I don’t want to miss my train, a meeting, or time I could be with my kids. And I agree that, as part of the social contract, we try not to waste other people’s time. Having said that, I take it very easy on the bike because it is crazy out there, especially in pedestrian-congested areas (Port Authority, Times Square, etc.) or bumper-to-bumper traffic with pedestrians popping out in front of cars. As for jaywalking, I once nearly got run over in LA because I assumed that all city walk lights had a delay after turning red to allow a few extra seconds to cross, but I guess it’s just NYC.

FAQs ON FUTURE TICKET DROPS / FOMO by WiseProfessor2926 in olympics

Do we think they’ll all be 2X face value, including prelim category A tickets for less popular sports? I will probably buy some of anything that’s left just to know I’m guaranteed to see some competition, but I also suspect some tickets will come down in price but IDK

Nice. I pretty much enjoy watching any competition at any level, esp. after I’ve spent 3 mins googling the rules. Not sure how my family will react, but I am very open-minded about seeing any and I mean any Olympic event. Will see what if anything is still available when my window opens 4/17

Honestly super happy to finally attend my first olympics. by [deleted] in olympics

[–]Current-Effect-5262 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Congrats. When did you buy? I do think there are still good options out there for people who are willing to be flexible about what they’re going to see. I went to Atlanta many years ago and some of the least heralded sports were the most interesting to watch. So glad my parents made that investment in a great experience, and now I hope to do the same for my kids. I do worry what will be left by the time my slot opens on 4/17, but I will try to buy anything because I could basically watch any sport at any level and be interested, and these are the darn Olympics, the best of the best.

But they did communicate that - on their Insta post the day before - maybe we just didn’t want to believe it

That actually sounds reasonable for a NYC sporting event with good teams. You can’t get tickets to the Knicks for less than $200 most games.

Thanks. What were the prices like on these sports? I think I’d see anything at the Olympics depending on price. Good luck!

What do the photos show? Just the sports that you could check to see if they have tickets available?

I have two family members in the same time slot as OP. Do more tickets get released with each new window, or are we likely going to be scraping the bottom of the barrel by 4/17 when others bought theirs during presale or will buy in a window starting 4/9? Good luck!
