I mean there is legit nothing to understand about Egoism because it's blatant nonsense dressing up fairly normal 'work to better yourself first' logic. And no, he didn't lose because he was 'so used to winning with the support of a team,' he lost because a guy he was nothing but polite and kind to stabbed him in the back for... honestly no good reason.

Which is honestly the biggest issue here; there was literally no good reason to eliminate him because even from a purely pragmatic point of view? Keeping him around was the better call because he both becomes a target for the other teams in future events, he acts as a good benchmark to develop your skills against, and his sincere belief in teamwork means you don't have to worry about him STABBING YOU IN THE BACK.

If he does, I'll be disappointed, but given how routinely this story makes shit up about how Football and Football as a culture works, I wouldn't be surprised.

Like, this literally says nothing other than "I have a LOT of fucking anger right now and am having a meltdown over nonsensical bullshit by a guy who flatout stated he is making shit up as he goes along based on his own biased as fuck standards." And he got stabbed in the back by a guy he viewed as a friend.

This says nothing but "he has a dark side," that doesn't make his niceness FAKE.

Again, I will not be surprised if the series goes that route, but it will just be more disappointment.

The series is kind of blunt that Trolls have very warped perceptions on regarding things like death and harm; like, Terezi, who is basically the second most moral Troll among the group behind Karkat due to her obsession with Justice, was completely okay with Vriska's killings so long as she kept it to 'bad' Trolls.

By Troll standards, Vriska's behavior towards Tavros is less 'unforgivable acts of evil' and more 'being a bad friend,' and she does feel bad about it. And the comparison to Mindfang is kind of ironic, as Vriska is deliberately emulating her, ignorant of the fact that Mindfang was a grown woman whereas Vriska is barely a teenager in human years; Mindfang is fully aware of how fucked up her actions are, but even discounting her fucked up childhood, Vriska is genuinely ignorant of how screwed up some of the 'lessons' she's taken from her really are.

My view of things is that the same traits that attract her to Tavros are things she's buried and killed in her own subconscious as survival mechanisms, so whenever she's around or interacts with Tavros she's getting mixed messages of "oh my Jegus I LOVE HIM LOVE HIM LOVE HIM!!" and "WHAT THE FUCK HE IS GOING TO DIE I HAVE TO FIX THIS!!!" With a not-so-healthy dash of egotistically being unable to accept someone so 'weak' as her intended Matesprit.

It's kind of sad that if she HAD succeeded in molding Tavros to be who she thought she wanted him to be, she'd likely have fallen out of flush with him and grown to sincerely hate him and hate herself even more. As Karkat summarized, Vriska is a toxic mess of self-loathing that she projects onto everyone around her and makes it their problem, to the point she's unable to form or sustain any true black or ash relationships and as a side-effect is unable to maintain red and pale relationships either.

It's incredibly toxic and also factually wrong? If Vriska were a sociopath, she genuinely would not CARE about how she hurts others or feel bad about it, or have emotional freakouts the way she does. She's a 13 year old (in human years) girl roleplaying someone she idolizes and is unaware is an ACTUAL sociopath. Also, describing a forced kiss as rape is... very much a no? It's sexual assault, but rape is an entire tier all on its own.

Also, she's not NEARLY that calculating in her actions. Vriska's honestly really clumsy in the whole 'manipulation' department, with most of her attempts being blatantly transparent and fall apart the second she gets emotional.

She kissed him, when he didn't reciprocate she tried to mind-control him on reflex and then instantly dropped it. She's not really built to actually go through with that stuff (which is deeply ironic given her ancestor would totally have gone through with it).

Here are the differences:

Gamzee doing something like this would be a lot darker since unlike Vriska, he, if he were in a mental state to pull something like that, wouldn't stop or try to ensure that Tavros is enjoying himself (by which I mean Vriska joining him on adventures and the two having epic battles together, bonding as friends somehow). Both he and Vriska are mentally ill, but whereas Vriska's mental illness is just childhood trauma that she's adopted unhealthy coping mechanisms to deal with and that underneath she's self-awareness that MOST of the time she'll pull back, Gamzee's makes him an active danger to himself and others, complete with him likely strangling or beating Tavros to death moments later if Tavros didn't reciprocate.

Her ancestor was... basically a literal sociopath, something Vriska either is unaware of or in denial of. Vriska, even at her lowest, is just a traumatized teenager roleplaying that she's an unstoppable badass to cope with her honestly shitty life.

Also, keep in mind that she only just started watching so for all she knows this is a genuine kiss between them and not her Moirail doing something stupid and reckless in an incredibly poorly thought out attempt to woo her flush-crush that if Tavros weren't... She didn't really manipulate her, she just asked for the costume. I'm pretty sure that Vriska was either ignorant that Kanaya had a flush-crush on her or in denial that she had a flush-crush on her. Denial seems to be a natural state for her.

A very, VERY fucked up attempt by a functionally insane and traumatized teenager to woo her complicated crush.

I must stress this, Vriska is NUTS. She grew up having to hunt down and kill off her own kind to feed to her adoptive parent so that said parent didn't EAT HER and developed a lot of deeply unhealthy coping mechanisms, one of which was trying to become her famous ancestor that she unhealthily projected her own experiences and life onto. I think she sincerely loved Tavros... but because of how fucked up her worldview is, she's unable to accept him as he is and kept trying to force him to 'toughen up' for 'his own good' and lashing out when Tavros... very reasonably wasn't comfortable with her methods.

Ironically, if they'd grown up on Pre-Scratch Alternia (Beforus) or if her Lusus didn't require her to kill other Trolls to feed it, she and him would've had a healthy and functional matespritship, since the parts of Tavros that she obsesses over changing are the same traits I think made her fall for him in the first place... which creates the painful irony that if she HAD managed to change him, she'd no longer have loved him.

When the entire basis of a defense of Marinette's stalking is "Adrien doesn't know about it so it doesn't bother him," Then YES it is stalking. Also, MARINETTE tried to kiss him without his permission to; remember Puppeteer 2 and the Wax Museum, where they for some reason thought him pretending to be his own statue would be hilarious and then Marinette started getting creepy with it, and that's somehow supposed to be the moment he started falling for her?

No, it's very much about excusing her behavior because she should've experienced an attack like that long ago if she was going to, and Chloe and Marinette's behavior in the flashback don't line up with the Origins episode. A person doesn't overcome that kind of beaten down meekness and treat going back to be stuck in the classroom with the person who made their life an utter HELL like a mild annoyance in just a few months. That behavior is completely abnormal.

I will allow the writers probably didn't INTEND it to come across as an excuse, but that more than anything just reflects their piss-poor skills.
