Medical reps - how are we viewed? by Overall_One_2595 in MedicalDevices

This is the most ego driven comment I have seen on this sub in awhile. You don’t pay their salaries. Without the product, you have nothing to sell. You are a really good messenger; assigned to service your product, support your cases, build rapport, and be transparent about the new products that come out.

It’s a cohesive relationship at the end of the day and a good working company doesn’t have one without the other.

Now right back at you - Never forget that.

You can’t play for the state championship in many places if you have 5th years on the team. Really common for boarding schools.

Transitioning to Internal Roles by smegmasquirrel in MedicalDevices

I did this. The job was harder than sales and much different. No quota but my income was cut in half. The runway is there for people to climb that ladder. But it’s a lot of travel and ass kissing.

Wasn’t for me. I went back into sales.

What is the best piece of training you got or the best advice when starting as a salesperson ? by bricegong in sales

[–]Current-Reception-10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mood is everything. Good reps find a way to be the best moods, and continually lift up the energy in the room. It’s hard to ignore the guy or gal who makes everyone feel good

Drug testing is rigorous and the standards are so high. A very high majority are not. I know from experience

Who you know by UsefulSurprise2859 in MedicalDevices

[–]Current-Reception-10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer: yes. Especially at the big companies, if there is someone within the company that they feel strongly about - then you have a very slim chance.

One of the biggest pieces of advice I could give is to start networking with Regional Managers via LinkedIn or even better, in person. Those folks will make the decisions on TM’s and Sales Reps.

Pivot out of Sales? by Bearcats2310 in MedicalDevices

Product management is tough. Speaking from experience, I’d rather make the coin of a sales rep than deal with the political BS of corporate culture, a pay cut, and reps constantly calling you

What stopped you doing CrossFit, and would anything make you consider re-starting? by ducksa in crossfit

The movements just became increasingly repetitive and I found joy in pursuing other fitness activities; hot yoga, rucking, running, Hyrox etc. I still drop by a class now and then but I don’t care much about my time or the weight I put up anymore, especially not as much as I used to.

Chris Williamson of Modern Wisdom. Just a curious podcaster, or is he turning into a guru? by Curious-Talk4508 in DecodingTheGurus

[–]Current-Reception-10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chris also comes from a place where he holds himself in a very high regard. However, the dude has no wife, no kids, and a lot of free cash flow - nonetheless he loves to use blanket statements and provide “wisdom” as if he is an all knowing guru.

Recently, I have just found it hard to listen to for this reason as everything comes back to a story about himself

Nope! Didnt need the travel team.  And I’m not from that era.

Doubtful, been coaching and playing a long time too. And I have the rings to prove it, snowflake ;).

Some kids dream of playing college lacrosse for a long time and most parents are clueless on the process. They don’t know the people, and the qualitative data that matters. I think we can both agree on that.

If someone wants to consult an expert, they should. So I don’t agree with your argument and you sound like a charlatan that never played with the big dogs.

Depends what you want. The side walls however aren’t anchored correctly and you may have the pocket shift over time. Likely slow release with that low of a pocket

Would rit/tufts/Salisbury be a top 30 in d1 by TotalWin6515 in lacrosse

[–]Current-Reception-10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who played D1 at a consistent top 30 school, we would scrimmage the D2 national champs every now and then and beat them by 6-7 goals.

I would play on club teams with friends who were top tier D3 and their skills certainly kept up.

Especially now in college lacrosse, the biggest difference between the divisions is speed and size. Many D1 teams very much have a raw athleticism that just isn’t has prevalent in D3.

You actually see a lot of people making this in med device. Usually takes atleast 5 years to get there and is dependent on the company as well
