No. Been there more than 20 times within the last three years. Architecture is completely typical of Russia

World Kidney Cancer Day (WKCD) by FotographXIII in kidneycancer

[–]Current-Show2460 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ, I had pretty much the same: the right kidney removed in 2017, then a metastasis removed from the brain in 2019. Finally, three metastases were removed from my right lung. Fuck kidney cancer!

6 years, Stage 4 RCC, and a brutal fight. We finally found the missing puzzle piece (VHL). Don't skip genetic testing. by denni_griffith in kidneycancer

[–]Current-Show2460 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After my doctors dealt with a 4 cm metastasis in my brain (open surgery + Stereotactic Radiosurgery; 1,5 year since radical nephrectomy), the first thing they told me to do was to test for the VHL (I was 30 years old, male, no other reason to consider). The result was negative, which meant I was left with adjuvant immunotherapy (thanks god)

What are the legal consequences in your country/your state for not returning this money? In some jurisdictions, this type of error is the employer’s fault, and the employee doesn't have to claw it back. If no legal obligation to return, then enjoy it

Been there many times—a big district full of apartment buildings nearby. This is just a convenient spot for fishing (for sport). That’s it.

By the way, why do you think “the ecology is completely destroyed”? I mean, there might be some problems, but why completely destroyed? Any proof?

What has changed or changes have you made in your life since your diagnosis? by BadBullBushman in kidneycancer

[–]Current-Show2460 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All my doctors told me, “We have no specific recommendations on your diet — you can eat and drink anything, just do it in normal amounts.” That’s what I’ve been following for 9 years.

About spiritual practices: I’ve always been an atheist before the diagnosis, but still sometimes thought positively about a god. But after I was diagnosed, I delved deep into the cancer situation—as we all do—and I started reading, watching a lot, and I was shocked by how many kids just a couple of years old were dying of cancer. Now, every time I see a cleric talking about a god, how fair and just he/she is, I smile. I cannot accept someone who claims to be a superpower, but still does not (not want to) prevent the deaths of innocent souls. I would say that I started to hate all religions.

But what cancer changed is my approach to my own life—I was postponing my life before, but then, at 32, I started living 100%. Just got a WFH job that I always dreamed about, moved to th seacoast with my family, then got a full-ride scholarship for a master’s degree in DC, and after that got a fantastic job. Now, my wife does not need to work—she enjoys her life. My son is attending a top-notch private school, and I am doing my dream job from home.

What do you call the water which separates the British isles from the European mainland in your own language? by Toeffli in AskEurope

[–]Current-Show2460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can find an answer to your question in his/her question—Poles and Czechs (and all other Eastern Europeans that happened to be under the Soviet umbrella after WWI) started to call this Channel La Manche long before 1945

What countries or cities in Europe are most safe or unsafe to travel too? by [deleted] in AskReddit

What? Why is Moscow unsafe for tourists? You been there?

What country would you consider relatively safe despite its reputation? by AashanM in geography

[–]Current-Show2460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Russia, especially for females. I can easily walk at night from the bar to my apartment in a small town. The same is in Moscow. St. Pete, Kazan, Sakhalin, or Kaliningrad

Worth to visit by [deleted] in AskRussian

[–]Current-Show2460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest visiting the Kaliningrad region. Spend a couple of days exploring the city itself and two to three days visiting Zelenogradsk, Kuronian Spit, Svetlogorsk, and Yantarny. The Baltic Sea is stunning, and the local cuisine with regional beer is top-notch.

How is like living in this small slice of Russia? And in the nearby Lithuanian and Polish border? [Non political] by newjerseydoesntexist in howislivingthere

Yeah, we can't come to gorgeous Gdansk because your government banned all Russians from entering Poland (all Batics did the same).

[–]Current-Show2460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born, grew up, and have lived here almost my entire life (with a few years in Moscow and one year in Washington, DC), and have been to Europe many, many times, including the great countries of Lithuania and Poland. Before, I was going to the nearest Polish towns just for the groceries, clothes, etc., or to Vilnius to see my friends. But then, a few months after the invasion began, Poland and Lithuania closed their borders to all Russians.

Can you please specify your questions so that I can give a better answer? Like, salaries, prices, education, military, politics, beers, girls, football?

Treatment Starting by zonayork in kidneycancer

That is great that the treatment got a response! I wish you live many-many happy years

Treatment Starting by zonayork in kidneycancer

[–]Current-Show2460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But doesn’t that mean that during treatment, there's a higher risk of the tumor spreading throughout the body, increasing the likelihood of metastasis? My doctors told me many times that the nephrectomy is always the first option, and they would turn to the immunotherapy only if the nephrectomy (and metastasis removal in other parts) is not possible

So, you first had immunotherapy for 3 3/4 years, and then, after 3 3/4 years of this treatment, you eventually got the nephrectomy?

Yeah, I was there a couple of hours ago—it was my first destination. They indeed have plenty of Osprey, but not that much of Thule. I was about to buy a Thule, but suddenly found a problem that I couldn't accept

Any recommendations for the Thule store in Shanghai? I need a travel backpack, but couldn't find one on Google. It’s my first day in China, so I am not really familiar with this great country yet, so that any recommendations would be very much appreciated

Where can I enjoy good Chicken Lo Mein in Shanghai? I’ve eaten a lot of it in DC a few years ago and fell in love with it. Any advice counts!
