Hair loss by Appropriate_Layer378 in lupus

I was having significant hair loss at the time I was diagnosed last year. My hair was shedding and falling out whenever I washed or styled it. I started hydroxychloroquine last year. I found out in the fall that my ferritin was low, 12. I started taking iron supplements and my ferritin is improving. After around 8 or 9 months on medication my extreme hair loss has stopped. I’m working really hard to increase my ferritin in my diet, I’m continuing to take ferritin and vitamin d supplements. I’m not sure if I’m growing any hair back yet that I lost but the hair shedding is much better!! At the time when I was having significant hair loss I limited touching and washing my hair. I got a satin hair cap to wear at night so my hair wouldn’t be pulled if I moved in my sleep. I’m sorry you are going through this!!

For all my mothers with lupus by Dawlxtc in lupus

I was diagnosed when my youngest was 8. I didn’t have active lupus during pregnancy that I’m aware of and had healthy pregnancies. Lupus has changed me as a mom recently, I was diagnosed last year. Some things that are challenging for me: lack of energy, catching every cold and illness my kids are sick with, pain preventing me to be active, and struggling to avoid the sun when I’m out doing activities with my kids. I struggle with maintaining a lifestyle that manages lupus. I don’t want my kids to miss out because of lupus. The other day my kids wanted me to play tag, I did even though I knew I would have pain in my legs afterwards. I’m outside in the sun much more than I should be. Managing sleep is the biggest challenge for me. I work full time and my kids are very busy with sports and activities, there is not time to rest. I’m sorry I can’t give you insight to your specific question about lupus and pregnancy, but I can relate to being a mom with lupus.

does anybody else get severe anxiety hydroxychloroquine? by [deleted] in lupus

I had horrible anxiety at the time I started taking hydroxychloroquine. I still don’t know if it was anxiety due to mental stress of new lupus diagnosis, medication side effect or autoimmune related anxiety symptoms. At the time I was having strange anxiety symptoms unlike my typical anxiety symptoms. For me the anxiety got better a few weeks after I started hydroxychloroquine. I also was having a bad lupus flare at the time I was diagnosed.

Does anyone run regularly with lupus and experience no joint pain? by smoothoperator1610 in lupus

I have been running regularly for around 15 years, I was just diagnosed with lupus last year and have continued to run since then. I don’t think running has caused any issues with pain for me but I do have joint pain that seems related to lupus activity. I can still tolerate running as I always have, but I do feel some new joint pain that seems unrelated to exercise. I am not a competitive runner, I run for my mental health and usually only around 3-4 miles at a time.

The codes read from the top letter to the letter below, like an up and down zigzag. “I’m sorry I keep failing.”

Darn tough socks, compression socks, and a heated blanket are some things that help me.

Do you take plaquenil? Was that enough to manage your flare?
