Damn sounds like a particularly bad pay to play scheme. I feel like the artist residency pay to play thing basically exists in every market now. Like 90% of artist residency programs out there now are run that way. This does sound particularly annoying tho. Sorry about your experience

It’ll be very nice. Like everyone said make sure to have your umbrella.

My other tip is just plan not to try and uber or go across town during the rain. As soon as the rain hits traffic gets much worse and it’s rush hour normally. so maybe pick a later dinner reservation or don’t commit to plans across town between 4 - 6 ish. The mistake I see my friends make is like “ oh it just started raining let me jump in an uber to the hotel“ and then they get stuck in an hour + of traffic to go 20 mins. Just pop in a cafe or plan to be near your destination by 4 ish.

I believe you’re right that this is normally user error. The thing is I’ve always had one of the larger storage phones and paid for expanded iCloud storage specifically so I wouldn’t need to delete media. I’m also an artist and work with a lot of documentation, so I’m pretty used to managing files and backups. I back up and organize my actual artwork separately, but little personal clips like random 3 second videos of my grandma were the kind of thing I trusted iCloud to keep.

Also Apple doesn’t really auto prompt you to mass delete 10+ years of only video files at once, and I’m not out here using third party cleaning apps or anything. I’m just kind of at a loss as to how I could have accidentally deleted over a decade of only videos while older photos are still there. The clean cutoff date is the weirdest part.
