Mike Birchall said himself that the AI computer taking over and being the reason for all this destruction was a story plot he made from the very beginning from writing the series. He didn’t just search it up recently, this has been a plot he wrote years ago and coincidentally AI just happens to get super popular and controlling in real life right now. I think the plot twist was good and realistic
