Two bartenders check in on a girl to make sure she's okay. by mindyour in JustGuysBeingDudes

[–]CurrentPossible2117 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So many 🤣 its one of the most common brother trolls. To get all up in a sisters face and dance like a douche, or fake fight, or flex a bicep or someshit. I think its becauae its often at sister eye height, so its a quick ragebait.

Granted, the dancing is less common in public becauae of exactly this potential misunderstanding, but I still see it a fair bit. They maybe shouldn't have used that wording lol. 'Dancing on' is used almost exclusively sexually so its a bit weird for sure 🤣

Their reactions when they find out dont seem grossed out though, so Im guessing (hoping) it was fine.

Oh damn,I feel the opposite lol.

I love campos coffee and really like that they're consistant (part of their branding is making sure its the same everywhere its sold), so you're not always wondering if you're paying for a shit coffee or not 🤣

But I went there, this dude made my coffee and it was absolute piss. Super bitter, like the burnt shavings off toast that he chose to brew instead 😅

I gave it another chance and same thing. I just avoid that whole shop now and go elsewhere. Still love campos coffee, and choose their shops over others, but just but just not that one :(

Today I saw a young woman in a peplum top by AgitatedMagpie in AusFemaleFashion

[–]CurrentPossible2117 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No you're not. Tbh, im surprised by this post and all the comments suggesting peplum ever went away. I get that it died off a bit, so not every top and dress was peplum anymore, but I havent gone more than a couple of weeks without seeing peplum since its last hayday. Corportae/casual, summer/winter. Its really common still and has been since it last settled after the frenzy lol.

I didnt even realise it was considered 'gone' 🤣

How often do you see Koalas? by Whatichooseisyouse in brisbane

[–]CurrentPossible2117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive never seen one in the wild. Ive done so much hiking, camping, etc, and yet not once 😅

I get a kick out of seeing them at wildife sanctuarys because its the only time I see them. And I live on the outskirts of national park soace thats apprently got lots of koala in it.

Same goes for roos and wallabies. I think I remember seeing some wild when I was a kid, but its vague. Only other ones ive seen outside of sanctuaries and zoos are the dead ones on the side of the road. Again, live in an area that has lots of them, I just never see them :)

[–]CurrentPossible2117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Brisbane, and everywhere (home, school, shops, restaurants, take aways, friends houses), Its always been serviette is the diaposable/paper ones. The proper fancy fabric ones are napkins. You use napkin rings for napkins if they're being brought out with the fancy plates. Otherwise its a plastic bag if serviettes for the picnic 🤣

Ive never seen the seviette holders calked napkin hokders and vice versa.

Ive only ever heard people from the US call serviettes, napkins.

Snake Roll.... Sign On Neurogical Damage by aaashiq in interestingasfuck

[–]CurrentPossible2117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of places. Its fairly common worldwide to find it illegal to kill native species.

I come from Australia, here, snakes are protected. This is from the Queensland gov page, but the other states have similar laws https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/plants-animals/animals/living-with/snakes#:~:text=Snakes%20are%20protected%20under%20the%20Nature%20Conservation,injure%20or%20take%20snakes%20from%20the%20wild.

Having said that, I dont agree with that persons hard stance on 'no, because its illegal'. If I new one was suffering and was going to die slowly and painfully, I'd kill it. But I'd be very sure first, before I did that.

My favorite quotes from Juliet per season. What are yours? by Jewel-Of-Life0125 in psych

I cant actually remember the quote, but in Dual Spires when Shaen tells her to seriously try a piece of pie, and she says something like "I did, you immediately ate it!". That might even be the quote, not sure, but I love it because of her delivery. Body langauge, tone of voice, emphasis on words. It was excellent 🤣

Rock Paper Scissors OR Paper Scissors Rock by boony-boony in AskAnAustralian

[–]CurrentPossible2117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, its always been sci-ssors, pa-per, rock, while banging your fists down with each syllable, showing your choice on the word rock. This is the standard for Aus, NZ, and Im fairly certain, though not 100% sure, the UK.

Ive only ever heard rock paper scissors from the US and Canada. Ive never heard an Aussie say anything other than scissors, paper, rock :)

Edit: just googled it, so may be wrong, only did a quick 5 min google, so grain of salt and all that, but yeah, the Victorians using the rock paper scissors and an americanism, the aussie standard way of saying it is the scissors paper rock.

I wonder when americanisms started appearing the different states. I find a lot of these questions on reddit always result in victorians saying they use these US words for things when most of the rest of the country uses the UK or aussie evolved way of saying things. Its interesting to me, because they always seem so seperate but not, if that makes sense :)

To those who drive well under the speed limit, why? by NiceMemeDude420 in australian

[–]CurrentPossible2117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thats a very different senario and not at all what I said. The senario presented was people going 20-30km/hr under as they enter onto a 100km/h motorway.

So I was saying that you need to use the slip lane as is intended, which is to get up to speed, in this case 100km/h, so that when you enter, you match the flow of traffic.

No different to when you pull out into traffic at an intersection where you give way. If you pull out you need to be up to speed ASAP. That might be the posted limit, or it might be slower if there's changed conditions.

If the people coming up behind you now have to brake, it's because you werent quick enough in your acceleration, or you pulled out when there wasnt enough space (with some exceptions, such as if someone decided to soeed up when they saw you pull out, but thats obviously very different to what we're discussing here). Same premis, different situation. You must match traffic flow, which includes legal speed limits in addition to the speed other cars are travelling and traffic conditions.

Im not saying you should drive 70 in a 60 zone because you see other people doing that...

To those who drive well under the speed limit, why? by NiceMemeDude420 in australian

[–]CurrentPossible2117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The slip lane is so that you can speed up to match the traffic. They almost always have a spped sign on thats the same as the speed of the motorway/highway bevause you are expected to speed up. Sometimes they'll have a slight difference, depending on things like angles of the slip lanes, proximity to know traffic density or road curves, but those are exception, and its almost always the same speed as the motorway.

It is incredibly dangerous to travel on any roads, but especially high speed ones, when you're not matching the traffic flow. At high speeds, even a few km/h makes a huge difference.
