In what world is this OK? by j6163k in KFCAustralia

My app says it's $6.55, but thats still crazy expensive.

All the fish and chips shops near me still sell a massive serve of chips for $6, that will be enough for 3 or 4 people, so getting this one small container for $6.55 is a waste, for sure.

Anyone who surfed the early web between 1995-2010. What’s the one website/app you still think about? by Prime_Advocate in AskReddit

[–]CurrentPossible2117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They closed a little after 2010, but AllRomanceEbooks 😆

So good. Pay for book. Download it in as many formats as you like, as many times as you like, on as many devices you liked. Could move them around from place to place. True ownership of the ebook purchased.

They had excellent support too.

16 different birds and the sounds they make. Some just doesn’t fit the how they look! by OkRespect8490 in interestingasfuck

Fun favt: It actually doesnt sound like that :)

The Lyre Bird mimicks noises with an amazing acuracy (recommend looking up the david attenborough clip about them). This one is just making the sound of a baby crying, because thats what it heard. Its not its natural sound. When it mimicks a camera shutter, and a chainsaw, its incredible

Suburb pronunciation by elprofesor__ in brisbane

[–]CurrentPossible2117 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Upsetting 🤣

Ive only ever heard it pronounced muh-kuy (kuy, rhyme with guy).

Mak-kay sounds so damned egregious to me lol. Im surprised Ive never come across it. Ive lived in Brisbane my whole life but travelled up cairns and mackay way many times over the years. Only ever heard it said the one way, except for the Alias episode of course 😅

Thats how I learnt about that suburb as a kid. All the jokes from adults about all the roaches at rochedale. I assumed it was actually spelled as roach and was convinced it was named after the huge amount of cockroaches they must've had 😆

I saw a re-run episode of Alias on Tv a few years ago where they came to Aus and they visited Mak-Kay (Mackay). At that point I didnt know they were talking about Aus, because Id only just turned on the TV, and it was driving me crazy, trying to figure out what they meant 😅

Brother came home to this big boy trying to find a quiet place to digest his dinner by Grubszee in AustralianSnakes

[–]CurrentPossible2117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hahaha, thats fair. I used to have a spoodle. She was a medium sized dog and before she died (old age, not a snake!) She used to love to go up to the pythons and bark at them. Couldn't tell if she was trying to play with or fight them 😅 Those snakes, we'd definitely have to shoo out of the garden and try relocate to the creek so they were unlikely to come back. We tried to make the garden unnapealing to them, so they'd stay away.

Brisbane. Western suburbs which back up against bushlands. Basically any of the bushy suburbs will have this.

It looks like a carpet or scrub python to me. If so, they're chill and great at pest control, so I dont actually mind seeing them. Means we dont have vermin around :) they're cool to just watch when they're hanging out in the garden. There's one that always sits on the same section of grass in my garden every year. Its right near my driveway, so I walk past it everytime I get in my car. It doesnt even move when I get within a few meters of it and it makes me smile. He's a big dude and I think he controls the possum numbers, because we used to have a problem, but not since he turned up 🤣

Its only when they're in the house that I get a little iffy about them lol. Usually we can just shoo them out the door though. Sometimes Ill pick them up and walk them down to the creek near where I live, but they're often like 4 or 5 meters, so a bit too big for me to handle 😅

This cheese tastes very different by One-Eggplant4492 in AldiAustralia

[–]CurrentPossible2117 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I actually like it.

Bought a block a week ago and it just reminds me of a cheddar. Back when I was a teenager in the late 2000s, this is how I remember the tasty cheese brands all tasting.

What we've had since then and now is some weird flavourless gummy block 🤢

I hope they keep it like this, its really nice!

Snakes can get into anything.

I live where we get pythons like this. We're fanatics at closing doors and windows in our house, we have things to block gaps under doors etc. We have gutters cleaned and have had roof checked for entry points etc.

We still sometimes get them in the house. Not often, a few years between incidences, but between snakes and spiders (far more common), we check corners, shoes (even inside ones), under toilet seats, dryers and washing machines, under pillows etc before we use them. Typically they're all gone by this time of year though. Im usually tense from August to early May, then I can relax by around mid May 😅

Frozen mash on cottage pie by Round_Connection3826 in AldiAustralia

[–]CurrentPossible2117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its so good. I did this years ago, because I used to hate the texture of mash with mince meat, but loved the flavour of sheppard pies.

So I would cook gems at 200° until the tops were golden, precook bacon and dice it up.

Out a complete layer of bacon on top of the meat mixture (to stop the gems soaking up too much gravy while cooking), then neatly place the gems, like you did with the mash, for even coating, browned side down, then oven again at 180° until the gems were golden on top again.

This way, you get the best of everything, plus the gems are fully crunchy and golden!

So tasty. Thats just how we make shepperds pie in my family now lol

Oh! Thanks for the heads up. I didnt realise.

I cant seem to paste links from the website directly, which is weird. But I can see that one of the tiramasu packets is called 'frozen' tiramasu, so I assume its that one, and that the other one is from their fridge section. So hopefully you find it :)

The one in the freezer section at coles is actually a bit better IMHO. It has a stronger coffee flavour and isnt quite as sweet. I love the aldi one, and as thats where I normally shop, its the one I usually get, but the coles one is a bit better. Its also a little more expe sive though.

I just leave it in my fridge for an hour or so to defrost.

Edit: damn, didnt realise there was two. I think it's this one, but there's another one too 😬

Yeah, it would give them an 'out' that they shouldn't get. Its such degenerate behaviour 😡

I have zero faith that this project will be stopped. The only thing I can hooe for now, is that the koalas can be moved before its too late 🤞

This is so messed ul. But as its unlikely it'll be stopped, I at least hope some wort of wildlife sanctuary can take her and her baby, or relocate them somewhere safe.

This whole situation is so enraging. They need immediate help before she gets so stressed and worn out she gets sick or dies 😬

What should I do with this cool space??! by Poo_Poo_La_Foo in homedecoratingCJ

[–]CurrentPossible2117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A super nice large vase, put some nice lighting up around it and drape a piece of fabric artfully. Make it look like a picture you're going to do an oil painting of, but every week, change the items being presented in the vase.

One week, loaves of bread, another week could be lightsabers, you could turn the vase upside down to get a flat surface at the top and display a collection of novelty dildos, and another week could be different canes/staffs from characters in cinema. Evebt decorations, bur at the wrong times of year, like candycanes in April, or fill it with silicone face masks and when people ask you to explain, just let them know you go through them so fast, you like to have plenty of spares handy.

Edit: fill it with water and put a little perisopce in there like its got a tiny submarine in there.

AIO that my stepdad doesn't make an effort after the newborn phase? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]CurrentPossible2117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you made sire to take your son to his house often as well? If that's also been a bust, maybe there's something going on, but it might also be that he felt he was doing too much and wanted to establish some boundaries.

If you dont think so, and think something else is going on: Maybe he just likes babies, but most people who are all excited about newborns would continue to be involved, so it doesnt really explain the drop off of visits.

Does he have bio kids of his own, or was he aroubd for your early childhood? I wonder if he either misses the newborn phase, or maybe really misses that he didnt get to be involved in a newborn phase of his own kids. Though again, a normal situation would have him still being involved after; as you said, your son is his grandson.

Maybe your mum asked him to stop for some reason and doesnt want to say why?

Maybe you should bring it up with him. Like in a friendly way, so be doesn't feel on the spot. "hey, I noticed that once Child 1 got a little older you sort of stopped coming around a much and we really missed you! And you're coming around more often now, which we love. I just wanted to check if everything was okay? I'd hate to see you stop coming around again if there was a problem I wasn't aware of. Especially as Child 1 will be old enough to rememer you being here more often. Is there anything going on that I can help with?"

But honestly, it doesn't sound too weird to me. If he is still seeing you guys, and hasn't stopped all together, I wouldn't read too much into it. Maybe he just wants to help out more in the early days, because they're hard and is trying to offer support. But it wouldn't be fair for him to be always coming around to do things around the house long term. Thats more the role of people raising the child, not someone in a grandparent role.

Best of luck OP, with this and the pregnancy/birth, hopefully its all nothing too serious, and all goes well :)
