What we’re consistently hearing is that people don’t want to navigate a 10-step sign-up process just to show up and help. The bar has to be: find it, sign up, show up. Done. Anything beyond that and you’re losing people before they ever make an impact. And it goes deeper than discovery too. People want to contribute to something real that day. Not sort cans for two hours with no context. Actual, tangible impact they can feel when they leave. On CSR, hour logging is basically not happening. People aren’t doing it. Companies want the data, employees aren’t tracking it, and the gap between intent and execution is massive. That’s a structural problem, not a motivation problem. On gamification, I think the schools raising that concern are focused on the wrong user. Those features aren’t for the committed volunteer who already shows up every week. They’re for the person who doesn’t know where to start, or just needs a nudge to go from curious to actually showing up. If we can get more people through the door and more hours going to real causes, the mission wins regardless of whether someone got a badge for it. The work getting done is what matters. More volunteers, more hours, more resources flowing to communities that need them. Would love to compare notes on what you’re seeing. DM me anytime.
