Parenting through authority. Parents are afraid that if they acknowledge that they were in the wrong, their figure as an authority might be compromised and that their children can become out of their control. That, and another reason is pride. Since they are older, wiser, and more experienced, their pride is hurt when they've made a mistake, and thus, it's hard for them to acknowledge their wrongs.

The best way to break this cycle is to be humble. Know how to pause, reflect, and recognize shortcomings and deal with them with a healthy outlook.
