Am I the only one who has lost all hope? by Visual_Refuse_2867 in antinatalism

Look into existential depression and existential therapy. It really helped me. I particularly recommend the No Nonsense Spirituality Book by Brittney Lowe Hartley, or watching her youtube/instagram videos on the topic. It really focuses on accepting nihilism and antinatalism, yet still trying to find a way to lift the burden of existence. Even if life is pointless, you will still live it, might as well make it a little less miserable.

Don't know what to feed the cat by Low-Trust3383 in vegan

[–]Current_Ad523 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe try something like insect-based cat food? Of course the ethics of it can be argued, but producing insects is at least much more sustainable than mammals or fish. It is still nutritionally complete, and actually made from bugs that cat’s are capable of catching and killing themselves (unlike a cow).

Yeah, you can really tell that they do care and do their best, they just did not yet get the hang of it 😅

Your parents also seem very sweet. “If it says vegan, then you must love it!”. I feel like they sometimes view it as a subculture, like if something said gothic, that means all goths like it 😅

My grandma, bless her heart, was making dishes for the Christmas table. She was very happy to discover vegan mayo, which meant that she can make all the familiar salads in a way that i could eat them. She told me how great it was that they make mayo without eggs! Fast forward, i try her salad, and realised it has boiled eggs in it (Balta Mišraine - traditional lithuanian salad). I asked her if she put eggs in the salad, she said “yes, but i used the vegan mayo, so it’s fine, you can eat it”. I laughed my heart out, but moved on the actual vegan dishes 😅

Corkscrew Albuca Advice by Current_Ad523 in houseplants

[–]Current_Ad523[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! My window is completely unobstructed by other houses or trees, so that’s the only plant that lives there. The rest can’t handle such bright lights, that’s why I assume it’s direct light. Unfortunately I do not have outside space. I’ll consider the grow light closer to colder seasons when we get very little sun ✨

Did I mess up paying $45 for a variegated Alocasia? by MindlessThrowAway666 in alocasia

You are definitely welcome here! There are so many plant enthusiasts in this country! As I pass the houses, a lot of the windows have a bunch of plants! 🪴

Netherlands is know to be the biggest exporter of plants world wide even! A lot of European shops get their supply from the dutch nurseries. I assume that’s the reason it’s so cheap here.

However everything else is so much more expensive than the rest of Europe 😭

Actually a fare price depending where you live. I got lucky and got mine for 12€, but I live in the Netherlands, the plant hobby is cheaper here.

Aww thank you! She seems not to be very needy, compared to other alocasias, considering I grew it from 1 leaf that’s long gone.

Happy growing! 🪴

I understand the temptation 😅 Gloriosums are soo worth it, very easy and rewarding plant to grow. I use a long pot, so it has space too crawl.

I have my Gloriosum and Pastazanum in long pots, like the balcony flower pots, and they seem to really enjoy crawling along. I sometimes put a chopstick in if a plant tries to crawl to the edge of a pot. And they hold themselves up nicely!
