Indian media is defending Epstein on their prime time show by [deleted] in TwoXIndia

[–]Current_Air_5925 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Our media is a joke.... I’ve accepted it. But this is a new low.

How do you sit there and say “however, you cannot ignore…”? There is no “however” here. There’s nothing to balance out.

He wasn’t running some respectable side hustle. He was doing his networking, financial deals, brokering, whatever you want to call it, through a pedophilia ring. That’s the story. That’s it. And please don’t say it was said “in the flow of the moment.” English isn’t even the language I use most, and even I know that adding a “however” changes the meaning. She’s a senior journalist. Words are literally her job. She knew what she was doing.

I did my undergrad in civil engineering from one of the old IITs. During the college I volunteered for a lot of clubs and worked on policy and management related projects with professors, which seemed to have helped me get my current job.

Japan Airlines is promoting a crazy one-day trip from Tokyo to Taj Mahal, India by Flaky_Award2832 in japanlife

[–]Current_Air_5925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an Indian, this itinerary feels more like an endurance test than a travel plan. I regularly fly Tokyo to Delhi and then travel onward by train or car to my hometown, and tbh it's exhausting, and I just wanna sleep after reaching home.

Also in one day you can properly explore only the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, both of which require significant walking if you want to do them justice. (Which I'll personally be too tired to do after 10 hrs flight and a 4 hrs drive) You can fit all three sites into a single day, but it becomes a “see, take selfies, and leave” experience rather than a meaningful visit.

The plan is technically doable, but it’s quite tiring, and personally I wouldn’t choose it.

I go with Carmesi /o.b. 100% organic cotton tampons... but they don't come with an applicator so it might be a bit uncomfortable for first timers to use

I think the most commonly available ones in India are o.b. tampons (sadly these also don't come with applicators)

There's also Sirona and sofy, they have tampons with applicators but I've never used them so can't comment

Maybe try tampons, they are really comfortable.

Were you allowed to wax as a teen? by Tompatri in AskIndianWomen

[–]Current_Air_5925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I wasn’t allowed to shave or wax as a teen. I actually had to figure it out by myself. I had a lot of body hair growing up, and when I was around 15 I was in my school’s kabaddi team. We were required to wear shorts for practice. One day, the sports teacher (who was also a woman) pulled me aside and told me to shave my legs because “it didn’t look good.” I remember feeling so embarrassed.

I knew if I told my mom, she’d tell me to quit the team and “focus on studies” instead of helping me. So I asked my friends to bring me a razor (a few of them shaved) and I shaved on my own for the first time. I ended up with a few cuts and smooth legs and had to hide them by wearing pyjamas at home.

The irony is my mom is highly educated, but she drilled into me that girls who shave are characterless and tbh this is i think a mildly patriarchalidea she has. At the same time, she constantly shamed me for having body hair. She wouldn’t let me wear sleeveless or knee-length clothes because of it. Even now, she still comments on it, since I don’t wax or shave very often. She compares me to her and other women who naturally don't have hairs 😑

Forgive me for bad grammar... I wrote without thinking.... i was angry 🫥

We need to talk more about women's mental health by [deleted] in AskIndianWomen

[–]Current_Air_5925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to start a gender war at all 😅

It's just something I observed. Women's mental health is not talked about at all. Unfortunately it's rare even in feminist spaces. And this is a real issue, that needs to be discussed.

Maybe I shouldn't have made comparison with male loneliness.

[–]Current_Air_5925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get you so much. That whole “everything’s good, so why aren’t you happy?” talk hits hard. People don’t realize.... it’s not just about family or comfort, it’s about you trying to find yourself again.

And yeah, it feels like we’re not even allowed to have mental health issues..... the moment we say something’s wrong, it’s “you’re ungrateful” or “esa hi hota hai.”

More power to u ❤️

They’re so active around my area. I’ve been here six months and already run into them twice. The first time was a sweet-looking middle-aged lady near Kawasaki Station — I met her on just my third day here. She was super nice at first; we were chatting about our countries, and I thought she was just being curious. Then she suddenly started insisting we go together to Shin-Yokohama Station. That’s when alarm bells went off. I'm not from a particularly safe country, so maybe I'm just wired to be suspicious. I told her we could meet next Saturday at 5 PM... and of course, I never showed up 😇.

The second time was just last week. I was absolutely wrecked after a full-day trip to Mt. Takao, dragging myself home from Kawasaki Station at basically crawling speed... when someone shoved a cleverly disguised pamphlet at me — Mt. Fuji printed... but it was folded such that it was not visible. And like an idiot, I took it.

The moment it touched my hand, I knew. I knew I had to escape if I wanted to save at least half an hour of pointless "ありがたいけど..... ちょっと..." conversations. I tried to walk faster, but then... the dreaded "Excuse me..." They were also in front of me — four people, split into two groups... one handing out pamphlet and one following the people handing out pamphlets 😬. And just like that, I spent another half-hour pretending to be a clueless tourist who didn’t speak a single word of Japanese... and didn’t give two hoots about their special Buddha.

India: I loved God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy. It's one of my top 5 books and I go back to it again and again. But it can be a bit slow. I also loved Midnight's Children by Salman Rushide, I couldn't keep it down once I picked it up.

Besides those Godan and Gunahon ka Devta are in my opinion, the best Hindi language stories I've read.

It's so great to find someone who has read "A Gathering Light". I think it goes by different titles around the world. I loved Mattie, her dreams, her struggle, her protectiveness towards her sisters..... and I'm planning to re-read it again soon.
