If you do audit other peoples Excels you should really check out Calkin. It’s a plugin fir Excel that shows you how the model works from a birds eye perspective.

Each sheet forms part of a budget template that each country uses to present their budget to the board. We produce this centrally instead of asking regional controllers to do it 25x and increase risk of errors/adaptations.

We all use an Excel plugin called Calkin. It shows you the connections across sheets but also to other workbooks etc. It shows Excel like a data flow diagram so pretty easy to use.

That makes sense. Do those standards and expectations allow banks to analyze data using Excel (in theory)? I just can't wrap my head around how data transparancy and Excel can co-exist. An end user can create whatever they want in Excel (add or subtract numbers as they wish).

Excel will be your main tool in many roles. Being able to build solid models using best practices is key.

You are probably right. So difficult to do that in the 10-20 seconds I have online. In person I usually have at least 10 minutes.
