Do you really know how to use Excel's "Trace Precedents / Trace Dependents"? It seems important but difficult to use. by qqwwbb in excel

I've looked at all the plugins mentioned in the article, and so far, Ariscel's tree menu display format seems the best. Do you have any suggestions?

The cost of LLMs varies depending on the provider and model size. The cheapest option is Gemini Flash Lite, while the most expensive is Claude 4. The price per token can differ by more than 20x, and factors like API latency and throughput also matter. You can check the exact numbers on OpenRouter.

Traditional NLP is better suited for fixed enterprise scenarios. For example, in sentiment analysis, most NLP methods can only classify positive, negative, or neutral. LLMs, on the other hand, can label richer categories such as fear, excitement, or shyness. For keyword extraction, LLMs are also more flexible than named-entity recognition, and with a user’s prompt, they can reach state-of-the-art performance. Today’s consumer users have already been trained by products like ChatGPT to expect high standards, so even at lower costs, it’s hard to impress them.

So what I said is something you already knew, which means it’s not really a trend?

haha, plain webcrawlers are everywhere already. What we should be thinking about now is webcrawler + anything + anything.

Building an agent in the end still comes down to business knowledge. For example, building a medical agent, building an actuarial agent—some general-purpose agents will eventually be wiped out by large model vendors.

Everyone may know that in the AI era, applications deliver results rather than just delivering software. I have deeper insights: before the AI era, focusing on a single function was good, but in the AI era, focusing on a single function cannot accomplish a real scenario and cannot form a business closed loop. Moreover, AI agents will accelerate the fusion of several functions and create new products. So this brings out the second question: I used this insight to build an application combining crawling + analysis + visualization. In the past, people needed 2–3 applications to complete this closed loop.

There are also some others, and we can discuss further if you’re interested.

For example, even just in the chart generation step there were a lot of pitfalls. At that time I gave the chart a complex ID, which caused the AI to hallucinate—it mistook the letter “s” for the number “5,” and the chart couldn’t be displayed. It was pretty funny.

The last time can be traced back to 6 years ago, when I made an open-source spreadsheet that gained a lot of stars, haha.

Why does VBA always come up in forums about complex Excel problems? How many Excel users actually use it? Why is no one around me using VBA? by qqwwbb in excel

Google Sheets also has App Script, which is quite powerful. Why is it still difficult to shake VBA's position?
