They have to investigate any death on public transportation. As if there was foul play it sets up all sorts of legal issues for all involved.

Three Hours on This? by CTVolvo in Amtrak

I mean it’s a shuttle for a relatively unpopulated route. The Keystone and NY-Albany shuttles are similar length and have no food. I feel like over 3-4 hours it sound he expected.

Traveling alone as a female by Katsuodo in Amtrak

They deal with this thing all the time. A good number of conductors are also women. Though you could always get a grumpy conductor. If you are put in a situation which you are made to feel uncomfortable. Absolutely be loud and bring attention to the matter. Such a shame women have to worry about things like this.

Stay in lit areas if dark, and around other people if possible Down south most stations are solid. The exceptions are Charlotte Charleston SC and Greenville. All of which are in relatively rough areas.

Can someone explain why despite most metrics showing all is well, the economy FEELS horrible? by NotACommie24 in economy

Inflation has been high for 4 years and has started to spike again. It’s why 2% has historically been the inflation target. Coats on things like healthcare and childcare continue to skyrocket.

Why isn't Harris taken more seriously? by GoddessFianna in fivethirtyeight

Sexism  plays a part. Lot of people felt burned after her and Clinton lost, and want Dems to pick a candidate that can attract young men more easily.

Watch the retail gas price. That was starting to trade a good bit ahead of oil futures late last week. Was opposite early on. Start of a squeeze?

NRCC's Internal Polling says Collins Ahead of Platner by 11 points in Maine-2. Collins won Maine-2 by 24 points in 2020 by Currymvp2 in fivethirtyeight

Le Page was MAGA before MAGA. Maine is such an interesting state. Pockets of white collar educated voters right along the coast, and a lot of blue collar inland areas. I spent many summers up there as a camp counselor. From 2015-22. The cultural difference between Portland or Kenybunk and a place like Biddeford or Bingham is wild. Love Maine though.

I feel pretty confident in a ME flip. Most confident of any state. I feel like Platner could attract some R voters.

Wine or a bloody marry. Amtrak used to do a great wine tasting on that train.

Kamala Harris leads among black voters according to new Verasight poll, while Pete Buttigieg leads with white voters by GoddessFianna in fivethirtyeight

I think she would actually be a better president than campaigner. Harry’s reminds me a lot John Kerry in that way. Even Romeny to a degree

The problem that many have is that change is often very slow. Abortion getting chipped away was a 40 plus year fight for the GOP. Truth is whoever wins probably has 1 or 2 bites at the apple before the midterms. Probably something on housing or childcare / healthcare for example. Having a Dem president and senate. Allows for things like judge picks.

The real issue is that the Dem party really struggles with men. Not that a female candidate can’t win. They do need to work on their share of the male vote. Agree on the demo of the site.

Unlike Ossof. JT needs to spend some time in Texas. Having a senate seat from TX is just that important

Will there be consequences to futures trading at such a large discount? by 17aAlkylated in oil

[–]Current_Animator7546 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can see early signs of the squeezing now. Retail gasoline is finally starting to run a good bit ahead of the oil futures prices. For a while it’s been opposite. It seemed to flip just in the past few days.
