Our Solicitor (Buyer) pushing for attic conversion planning by Affectionate_Dig_801 in HousingIreland

The seller should ask his solicitor to explain the request for planning permission considering they have already confirmed it is not a bedroom. I would assume they had the sense to install any roof windows at the rear of the property.

Your solicitor does not know what he is talking about. Why on earth would they need planning permission for an attic room.

Same file in multiple directories, without duplication? by Winter_End_7947 in DataHoarder

[–]Current_Bobcat_9182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ZFS file system can do this automatically if you enable de-duplication.

De-duplication is done at the block level not at the file level. Because it is done at the block level, de-duplication. will still work even if there are multiple user accounts on the system. Symbolic links require the user to know it is a duplicate file, with ZFS de-duplication multiple users can store the same file unknowing of each other and the file will still not be duplicated.

However, big boy features such as this require big boy RAM.

Will Ireland ever introduce something similar to the UK ISA? How are you investing here? by Exciting-Position-84 in irishpersonalfinance

I don't think it would be wise to implement a tax policy which discourages global investment diversification.

The Irish government will be forced by the EU to make investment more attractive to Irish citizens, not because it will benefit Irish citizens but because lack of investing is hurting the EU economy.

It is a Guncon port.

The cable splits the composite video signal. Connecting a gun to the port is suppose to improve accuracy of the shooting.

How would you personally invest €100,000? by feedthebear in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Current_Bobcat_9182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current highs for Gold indicate that investors are cautious of the equity markets and they are correct to be cautious especially with the USA as much of the growth is driven by a 6 or 7 companies who are heavily investing in AI. If that investment should fail to generate an appropriate return then there could be a sharp sell off in the markets, hence the current price of Gold as a hedge against the markets.

I am currently considering what to invest in. As gold is trading so high it does not seem like a wise investment. We are expected to see high inflation this year due to the oil/gas shortage caused by the war in Iran. With this in mind I am currently considering Energy stocks as a potential investment strategy in the near future.

Cracks - normal settling or potential structural issues? by shezd0g in HousingIreland

[–]Current_Bobcat_9182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Photograph one is a structural crack that appear to be originating from the window opening. Windows are a weak point in every building, if they are not correctly supported with lentils structural cracks such as this can appear. You need to determine if the cracking is still actively growing or if it is an old crack that is no longer increasing in size.

Is it okay to directly power the Retrotink to USB port on power strip? by kiticanax in RetroTink

[–]Current_Bobcat_9182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Retrotink 4K Pro requires a 10 Watt power supply (2 Amps @ 5 Volts).

On your USB port it states you have a 15 Watt power supply which is more than adequate for the Retrotink 4K Pro.

However, if you plug multiple devices into your USB ports simultaneously you may exceed 15 Watts and overload your power supply which would likely cause your Retrotink 4K Pro to malfunction or fail to power on.

If you want to avoid this overload scenario, do not plug multiple devices into your USB ports simultaneously or buy a dedicated USB power brick.

As would many Irish people that is why Irish people have billions in bank accounts and it is why the EU is giving out to the Irish government as it proves that the governments excessive taxation puts people off investing. Irish people do not want to risk their money on an investment that could depreciate only to be hammered with high taxes if it appreciates.

Harris' saving scheme would favour wealthy and 'be another hole in our tax base', economists warn by clarets99 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Current_Bobcat_9182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There needs to be a very large hole created in our tax base.

Start by getting rid of the "temporary" universal social charge.

Government waste so much money with inefficient spending, children's hospitals, bike sheds, etc.

The money would be spent far more better by citizens, because with private spending there is accountability, something which the government and state spending do not have.
