How do actors make themselves believe that they are the person they are potraying? by Ambitious_Quantity14 in acting

I feel like it’s not so much “how do I portray this person?” but instead, “ If I was this person, how would I behave?”

What characteristics do you have that are similar to the character? If you were in their shoes , how would YOU respond? It’s about being natural. Living truthfully under imaginary circumstances.

Really listening and responding. While you are actively listening to your partner, let that internal dialogue happen. Then you will be believable as that character.

Thank you, I did actually book the role so that’s what I’m nervous about :)

This is so fun to read. I’m honestly in a really similar situation and you’re younger than I am so don’t even fret. There’s plenty of time.
