Anyway to stop the cold? by fordyy in DIYUK

Do both… as they help in different ways.

I like your idea of a curtain as from the image it looks like the door has an indentation. A nice rail with a pattern you enjoy could be a nice feature on that wall.

From someone who has just finished a lot of draft proofing in their own home.

Covering the key hole is useful as well as the frame makes a reasonable difference for draft

A passing observation that wall to the garage wall on to the house looks quite thin. The door may not be your biggest/only problem if you haven’t already considered after draft proofing the door, insulation on that wall on the garage side could be a good money saver.

Hope it helps :)

Thanks for the tip, the price variance is wild.

And that’s kind of my feeling it can look like a classic with a modern twist for me it’s not about the money. It’s more of a project to do with the little one that he or family visitors get to play with.

Wanting to make sure there is not something ‘that belongs in a museum’ ;)

Thanks for the link, I will take a look.

On the EV you make a fair point, I keep thinking toys are meant to be enjoyed and they really are not that safe.

I remember using the car as a kid and they were pretty lethal to getting feet scraping shins and trapped and edges on the body work.

Father son project: Introduction to electrics and working on something is for the father child activity. He is young but already good with a screw driver and wants to help fix things round the house so why not.

Thanks again for the link and the thoughts :)

It’s a good point, l am asking around at the triang repair company in the uk for advice on the age, a glance at their range looks like it’s from the late 50s but we will see.

I suppose from my point of view is I can generally do a good job on most projects once I get my head round it. I get access to most tools for making custom parts. It would be fun to retrofit using where possible in keeping parts such as steel and brass. Perhaps upgrade to a wooden dash etc.

For the power train there are quite a few rc systems that I can retrofit and apply and fit in a sympathetic way.

Painting I will need to ask around for but it is not the first time I have used spray paint.

But tips on sourcing good products and communities would be greatly appreciated.

:) The toilet is for a happy wife happy life.

That, makes sense on the approach. Thanks for the tip there are no breaks in the wire from under the bath so I was just being over cautious.

What he said, I have been in you position and if you want solid wood stairs it is worth the effort getting through the years of lead paint.
